I would argue Cap to be far more overrated than Iron Man. And everybody hates post-80s Optimus lol.

Back to Star Wars, pretty much any Dave Filoni original character. Rex, Ahsoka, Fives, The Ghost Crew, Wolffe, The Bad Batch, and definitely Cad Bane. He's like an even worse version of Boba Fett when it comes to overrated-ness.

Oh, I don't know. Cap grew over time, while Stark was still Stark. He also interacted with more classic villains. So, to me, Cap isn't overdone. He was done just right.

    - I don't even know who some of those are.
    - I liked Rebels as stand-alone cartoon/story.
    - Agreed on Ahsoka, over the top.
    - Retconning Rex into ROTJ was ridiculous.

I'm usually somewhere between neutral and liking Ahsoka myself and while I certainly get the appeal of the character, I also get why you and other SW fans would indeed find her to be rather overrated and don't find her to be all that great. Overall, I don't necessarily find her to be a bad character, it's just that there are other SW characters that I personally liked more.

In comics and comic-related media, Deadpool and Harley Quinn. I never liked Deadpool and am surprised the character has become as popular as he has and stuck around as long as he has; I expected him to be a fad that would burn out quickly, like Lobo (remember Lobo? he's NOT back in Pog form). Harley Quinn was a good idea - and used well - in BTAS, but her current 'suicide grrl' iteration is terrible, she's become DC's answer to Deadpool and is shoehorned into everything. The Batman: White Knight series helped redeem the concept a bit for me by splitting 'original' and 'new' Harley into two separate characters and that's my head-canon for the mainstream DCU now too.

In Transformers, any of James Roberts' original characters - particularly Rung, the DJD, cosplay-Ultra-Magnus and Nautica.

I'm trying to think of anything that pisses me off than the popular misconceptions of what ninja were, and I'm coming up emptyhanded.

They're like a less disgusting version of furries. They may not have zoosadists, AFAIK, but they have "cloppers", etc.

    Thank you :D

Rung is Roberts' self insert (think he kind of admitted it himself at one point? Idk)

Which, if you think about it, is Roberts basically saying he thinks he's God/Primus.

I probably should re-phrase that. Apologies. Maul is certainly fine in the EU stories (the novels of Lockdown and Shadow Hunter are indeed pretty good) that took place before TPM as well as the film itself. I really don't care for his return and appearances afterwards. What I really didn't like about it is how it effectively screwed over Obi-Wan's own achievement(s) in becoming from a Padawan to a full-fledged Jedi Knight and eventually being a Jedi Master complete with being a member of the Jedi Council and basically all but implied his whole progress within the Jedi Order is nothing more than a total sham. None of Darth Maul's fans (or even Dave Filoni for that matter) never seemed to stop and think about this unless they really hate Obi-Wan Kenobi's character for some reason. Then again, that would explain quite a bit among at least half of them. All in all, thank God I'm not the only one who thinks this.

Naw. I'm pretty sure Dave hates every character he didn't make.

In light of the renewed Joker popularity I'm definitely putting him down on this. While I like the character shit has gotten out of hand.

So many people are dressing up as him this Halloween. And his inclusion in MK11 is beyond lame. Every other meme is a Joker meme.

He's just not that amazing of a character. Cool? Yes, but not this cool.

Why even bother dressing up? Most of them are already clowns.

The reasoning is because it's an easy, cheap costume. All those people who dressed up as "the Purge" henchmen are now Jokers.

A couple of years ago on Halloween, a HUGE group of high school teenagers were walking around the neighborhood with those Purge masks on. I hate those masks. Every time I see one, I want to choke the life out of the wearer. Anyway, on my way home from work, they were congregating in the middle of the street and didn't move when they saw my car coming. I had to stop for all of those Petri dish babies. I wanted to make the world a better place, go GTA and run all of their punk asses over. Little bastards.

    Rick Sanchez. No contest.

Also, I like that Neil Gaiman is aware of things like this and intentionally keeps his Death character from "The Sandman" used scarcely as possible. You know if he didn't have some control over his characters DC would probably turn her into another Harley Quinn and we'd have jokey wacky Death in a overly-long comic run. But thankfully, Death is not an overrated character because Neil Gaiman is brilliant and plans ahead.

Boy that's a hard question to answer these days.. we're so inundated with shallow caricatures in TV and Movies that are just reboots or nearly unrelated prequels I don't really even rate many of these as "characters" anymore. It's like a nebulous cloud of meaningless faces and noises, just making me all the more appreciate the characters of when storytelling still actually mattered, even the ones I used to dislike, at least they stood out, had some depth.

Can I just say Zombies as a whole? I've been so burned out on Zombie movies for so long it still drives me crazy.
