Well no, that isn't really fair. Cena may not have been the best wrestler or the best actor, but the guy has a damn fine work ethic. When he was still putting butts in seats in the top card, his work rate was ridiculous. He went to house shows, went to PPVs, did Raws and Smackdowns and went to conventions and stuff...he was on the road so much and he volunteered for that stuff. Cena's ability to work is very respectable. I don't think he's the best actor but he isn't too horrible. Granted I don't really watch many of the movies he was in but he got my respect from Bumblebee at least.

Cena's only real goal is to get pops/heat. I went to Raw a few years ago when it was in town and when Cena comes out, you're part of the cheering Cena crowd or the "Cena Sucks" crowd and EVERYONE in the arena got into it. That's Cena's appeal. He electrifies arenas whether you're with or against him.

Hasbro isnt just in the business to make Transformers toys. It's easy to say just allocate more resources to make more TFs (if you're being selfish and demanding the figures "you want") but if their infant-toddler toy division outsells their child division(which is where TF are aimed at, ages 8+) it's just plain smart business to minimize the risk and use crowfunding a way to gauge the interest in a project like Unicron. Aside from the price, there were many who commented that they dont care enough for Unicron as a character. as much as he has become a part of TF lore, he's still a niche character. And you dont risk millions by mass producing a niche character. which ties to your comment regarding "they could just make all the toys the fans want to buy". I know you're speaking in broad terms but i can guarantee that if you name 10 characters that "fans want" i will disagree with 9 of them if not all 10 you'd list. Because you wouldnt know what I want, my tastes are different, so imagine trying to pinpoint what "fans want" while also having to answer to investors, board of directors and you know, the people who pay you to make them money.

I personally think Haslab's planet mode is perfect. I could live with the kibble on the robot mode. However, the $575 price tag notwithstanding, it's just too big for me to display in the limited space I have.

Zeta's robot mode is pretty cool and I really like the transformation. I was initially underwhelmed by the planet mode. However, I really like the addition of spikes in the newest set of DaimChoc photos.

I don't buy many third party Transformers, but I will seriously consider this if Zeta can keep the price under $200.

It is often paradoxical how large corporations with plenty of resources seem to be so constrained as to what they can do, while smaller companies seem to be much more nimble and responsive to what their customers want. After all, Zeta isn't relying on a crowdfunding campaign for their Unicron, since if and when it does get made it will probably generate a tidy profit despite a much lower price tag and a smaller production run. Obviously Hasbro is being prudent by trying to minimize their risks, but all they're doing is shifting the expense onto consumers who are far less able to bear that burden.

Companies exist for the sole purpose of financial profit. The larger the company, the larger the profit they expect. Zeta might make a few thousand dollars off of Core Star, but Hasbro needs MILLIONS to consider it a success.

Without fully knowing anything about Zeta, i can only assume though that the total people involved in that company is around a dozen? they each get more pieces of the pie, but at the same time the pie isnt that large to begin with, so in terms of what they can do, they can only allocate their limited resources to one project at a time for one specific demographic. Meanwhile Hasbro is catering to fans of all ages. You could argue that if Hasbro stopped making Cyberverse toys and invest more on the Generations line they could make even more toys for that target demo, but then the MP collectors would argue why are they being neglected, "Generations is already plentiful as it is, what about us!?" So it's a constant tug of war. That's the truth about being involved in a big business.
It's easy for an outsider to say they have all the millions why cant they do more? Well, i doubt those executives want to see their 6 and 7 figure salaries dip below that.

Ive looked up all over and I cant find this supposed law that only start ups can do crowdfunding... anyone got a link to it? I remember MST 3K doing a big crowdfund 3 years ago and made enough to start on another season and then got picked up alter by netflix... Thats not a start up. The company that makes Masters of the Universe crowdfunds for big playsets... they arent a start up. Maketoys isnt a start up and they crowdfunded for Sunfire...

This Zeta Unicron should come back in a few months as a Legends scale White Dwarf (get it... star core legends.. you get it) Hell I think if they marketed this as a legends Unicron from the beginning.. this whole fiasco wouldnt of happened as I think more people would of put money in for both instead of choosing one or the other.

They were probably working on this way before the Hasbro Unicron was unveiled. These 3rd party Transformers just don't happen overnight
