I was saying that those three are the only who I don't think are overrated. Sorry, should have been more clear. Edited the post to fix it, and added one more very important character

There’s two different list here. Actual over rated characters like Deadpool. Then there’s a list of over powered character but not necessarily over rated.

Naruto - Because when I think of ninjas, I think bright orange. Fuck this blonde-haired, loudmouthed little shit.
Goku - But only in Dragon Ball Z and onward. Goku in the original Dragon Ball is fine. It's just this whole "he's the strongest fighter ever" thing gets old very quick.
Every single character from the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - It's pretty bad when Hayden Christianson's character has more personality than any of these bland, vapid cardboard cutouts.
The Joker - But only about a few years after The Dark Knight film, probably starting with the "New 52" era of DC Comics. Trying to make the Joker "sympathetic" is like trying to get a fish to breathe air. He's an unforgiving, psychotic clown who murders people for humor. We don't need to know his past AT ALL. Hell, the Joker himself has said at one point that "if I'm going to have a past, I might as well make it multiple choice!"

Revan gets quite a bit of love from his fans. But yeah, the other three are super underrated. While on the topic of Star Wars though, I think that Ahsoka Tano is beyond overrated. Her fans hype her up like crazy.

Not really. One tends to bleed into the other as a character being OP typically leads to them being considered overrated by their particular fandoms. It's like how many people in this thread have mentioned Goku as being overrated. Why? Because he's too overpowered and thus his fans have hyped the character as being able to defeat anyone and anything in any fiction. If you think the other OP characters I mentioned don't have that problem... just go up to a hardcore Superman fan and you'll realize they're just as bad as the hardcore Goku fans... in their mind, Superman can beat up anyone and anything from any fiction as well. Which is why the two fandoms issensant bitching about one another is a wonderful trainwreck to watch on the internet as there's no intelligence on either side of that arguement. And, yeah, I know I probably just called out a few people in this thread. Don't care.

I feel like I need to defend some of the people on the list.

Boba Fett. I can see people that only watched the movies can feel that way. I became a fan because he is a man of few words and come on. People love the armor. In the EU you learn a lot more of the man behind the armor and all the shit he went through to become the galaxies best bounty hunter.

Master Chief, I look at him as the ultimate soldier. What UNSC wanted from the Spartan project. He is the success of the project that they wish they could replicate. A self contained warrior able to do multiple jobs, be unshakeable in the face of severe ods and will do whatever it takes to get the mission done.

My most overrated character choice. Fem CMDR Shepard

Can I just say Bakugo in My hero? Yeah, i like him, too and we got to see him developed as a character since basically hitting rock bottom... but let's not forget that in the very first episode....he told Deku to kill himself... He deserved to be put in his place, little toxic explodyboi.

    Towkgel? New headcanon name confirmed.

Does the expanded universe also detail why "the galaxy's best bounty hunter" uses the galaxy's worst jetpack?

So, I can talk your ear off on the character and we can be here all day on it. Lucas has never been a big fan of Boba. He too found it strange on how people fell in love with a character that had little to no back story in the films other then being introduced in the Christmas Special in a 10 min cartoon. Before the full story of ROTJ was completed Fett was actually supposed to have a bigger part in it. But when They went with Emperor and Vader Confrontation and Fett ended up on the writers chopping block with a stupid death with defective Jetpack. Authors went crazy with the character in the EU. In book 1 of the Bounty Hunter Wars he survived the pit due to the the sail barge exploding directly over the Sarlacc and injuring it. Near Death he escaped and almost died on the sands of Tantooine. He was rescued by Dengar and nursed back to health. So many books and comics have been writen about him. It got to the point that Lucas Films changed canon because of Karen Traviss' book building up the Mandalorian culture. Almost romanticizing it. It is the reason why in Clone Wars they made the Mandalorians frigging pacifists with the warriors being a small band of extremists. I'm glad Rebels fixed that crap.

That's all well and good for the 1% of movie viewers that bothered paying attention to that stuff, but it doesn't change how Fett was portrayed IN THE MOVIES that everyone knew him from in the first place. He went from what-could-be-a-badass in Empire to a total imbecilic bitch in Jedi, and no amount of phoned in retroactive nonsense made up and shoehorned into the fiction after the fact changes that on-screen depiction aka the one that 100% of ALL viewers ever watched with their own two eyes, and what 99% of them all remember.

I've never watched Return of the Jedi. I tried, but it was too stupid.

It's not that Lucas wasn't a fan (it's weird to be "a fan" or "not a fan" of your own character, IMO). As you point out, he had big plans for the character until he decided to change the length of the series. He was just surprised to find that even with so little of him in the films, the character still had a huge following. In light of that, he felt it was a mistake to have killed the character off and considered adding his escape from the Sarlacc to the 1997 special edition of Return of the Jedi. Ultimately though, Fett's survival would've had no payoff in the film, so he decided it was better to leave those events to the Expanded Universe. And so that's what happened when The Mandalorian Armor was published in 1999.

Prior to that, it really was strange that Boba Fett had such a following. It had less to do with the films than it had to do with Star Wars marketing materials that Lucas himself didn't pay close attention to. Trading cards, comic books, toy commercials. You pretty much have to have experienced those for his early popularity to make sense.

Raziel - to be fair, Raziel was OK in the first Soul Reaver game but I blame him for turning the entire series into fangirl yaoi fodder.
