At this point I’m only interested in buying Decepticons and third party (especially Fans Toys) is making what I want so without them I would probably stop. I don’t think I’m interested in more autobots, as I already have plenty from both Takara and third party. I have Bumblebee on preorder and would like to get Hound. I would be interested in a Takara Jazz if he ever gets made but I already have Downbeat and Maestro but I do love Jazz.

I wouldn’t consciously stop collecting, or purposefully avoid the TT releases, but I come on this site every day and skip quickly through the news, then come to this board. If this weren’t here anymore, the amount of releases I’d care about would be so reduced I might just stop looking, and probably collecting, simply through lack of interest in what’s being released. Maybe if TT increased their output and cared more about new characters than updates, I’d be happier with what they give us.

If Hasbro killed off 3P I'd be done. I buy the Official MP stuff, when it comes out, but 3P MP G1/BW is what kept me interested in what's next.

 

No. Of course not. Has/Tak has good toys and Third Parties have good toys. I've always collected a mix based on official offerings with Third party stuff mixed in when they offer something that appeals more to me. I would sorely miss all the options third party companies offer. Altough to be honest, they aren't currently offering much that I'm interested in when everything is an MPM or an MPM ko or a G1 character I don't want an MP of or a not quite MP of a G1 character or a black repaint or translucent repaint thereof or a legends scaled toy that is not BW. They don't even really do chug anymore unless your definition of chug is anything that isn't slavishly adherent to Sunbow designs. So if Hasbro axed all of them now I don't think I'd miss out on much.

 

I'll have even bigger chance of dying of the old age waiting for a satisfactionary MP-sized Galvatron. :X

 

I’d probably keep collecting mainline figures, but I’d be out on Masterpiece. HasTak will never finish G1, and can’t stick to a consistent aesthetic, so there just wouldn’t be a point to MP for me. I’m a completionist. I’d want at least seasons 1 and 2. Heck, we’re almost there with 3P now.

2 reasons I would give up.

HasTak does not produce G1 masterpieces at a fast enough pace for any of us to complete the collection in our lifetimes.

HasTak doesn't always produce nice masterpieces. I'm pointing my finger at hot rod, hound, Ironhide, as the main fails.

Bottom line, 3P helps HasTak. Without 3P keeping the collector flame alive, the whole masterpiece collectors market would atrophy and likely not be profitable enough to keep going.

 

Probably yes, my wallet will thank me for it too. HasTak's prices keep increasing but they dont reflect on the quality and design of the figure, especially with CHUG stuff like Combiner Wars, POTP and Siege, i've seen 3P Legends scale figures that look and have better articulation compared to the officials.

 

No. I buy things I like, regardless of who's making them.

 

I will keep enjoying the official figures. Probably also end up buying more mainline stuff in addition to Masterpiece due to more funds/space available.

 

Absolutely 110% YES, especially considering the huge drop in QC with their MP-44. I refuse to drop $200-$300+ just so I can play Russian Roulette with shoddy QC issues. I've been burned too many times by them.

 

I don’t think there is any merit to the idea that official MP figures are only successful because the people who buy them do so only to supplement their 3P collections and without 3P figures to buy there wouldn’t be a sizeable consumer base to buy official MP’s.

Probably yes because I only buy mainline transformers now when they are on sale/clearanced. Without the competition of 3P the prices will more than likely increase even more.
