Oh Right! I actually came up with the paint mixture earlier on today.
    Bright Blue, 2 parts
Navy Blue (One I used before. FSF or something), 1 part
quite simple. I will make a full detailed post later on.

Hmmm. Tempted to do this. How hard is it to get this piece detached from the rest of prime? For a newbie, what's to the best way to shave it down? Exacto?

I'm actually referring the inner knee covers that should be folded in a bit closer.

Just an update on my MP-44. I found a replacement spring. I cannibalized my broken MP-08 MP Grimlock and found a spring that works, albeit I had to use a piece of paper to get it to work, as the spring was too short and stretching it out wouldn't provide enough friction to make it work. While working on it, I've found numerous paint chips as well as some pretty sizable chips in the plastic around upper thighs and skirt flaps. These are obviously from the factory, as they're all painted over.

Another thing... opening up MP-08 again after keeping him in storage for so long really got me thinking. My luck with Hasbro MP figures has been pretty terrible. MP-08 was the first MP figure I've ever gotten, and out of the box, the light-up arm had a broken tab in the arm, making the lower arm joint non-functional, and the wrist connector for the light-up hand had a bubble in the plastic, which caused it to crack. And this is the Takara MP that comes with the bowtie, serving tray, etc.! I also got MP-09, and he had the infamous exploding knee issue. All of my official Seekers were floppy messes, MP-43 had the extremely loose waist and the crotch was broken out of the box.

I have possibly sourced a replacement spring, but once I have a proper spring put in, I'm very likely going to be getting rid of him. The sculpt on this guy is phenominal, but Takara really blew it with the quality control, and quite honestly, this may be my last official Takara MP purchase, aside from picking up some earlier releases. For those of you that got perfect MP-44, I'm happy for you (and extremely jealous), but I think I'm going to put MP-10 back on my Autobot shelf. He may have his issues, but at least he's built better (at least mine is.)

Huh. That's kinda part of the design I think, so no idea about that. (If that's what I think you're trying to say)

Detaching the piece requires you to disassemble the whole torso, although it isn't required. Only reason I have it disassembled is because I'm in the middle of making a topcoating tutorial atm. You can extend the piece out and it should do just fine. I shaved mine down with a hobby knife, so if you're exacto is that shape, then yes. It'd do.

It’s just so sad that mods/repairs are required for something costing this much..

    Question
A knock off could be good, or TE-01 if you have him.

The Sunstreaker mold is the best so far in my opinion. I have him and Cordon and that’s it, nothing else. Highly poseable, licensed and realistic, doors open, hood opens, lights open, and you can even maneuver the engine compartment lid to an open position. Not only that, you basically get two vehicles in one, and the transformation while slightly complicated, is fun, and the transformations has homages to the original. Just need a red one now. I don’t have prime yet. But figured I would wait considering all of the reports.

I simply meant that that mold was defect free for me, had no issues at all even with both copies, not over complicated or engineered, and was affordable. Probably should have clarified that. Because I agree with the people saying that they shouldn't have to mod or fix a figure at this price.

I’ve watched a couple of video reviews of MP44 and I’m blown away. I can’t believe the engineering, it’s incredible.

I’ve seen some references to QC issues, especially around the knees. At this juncture, is it better to take the plunge now or wait a couple of months for them to potentially rectify any issues? I’m not desperate to have it in hand now.

Minor/Repaint: - MP-44 General Fix Thread for details on that particular issue.

The reason I'm holding off personally, is that that's 47 with the issue here on TFW so far, and 60 without. Not a scientific poll to be sure but... enough that I'm fairly convinced there's a reasonable chance any unit could develop the issue. So I'm holding out for a running fix or a second run that addresses it, personally.

Barring that, I'll take the plunge anyway and just do the fix. But that topic gives a great overview of the issue and why it's happening.
