Yeah I agree, I think there is a good chance, not 100% or even 80%, but up there that we will see a commander class Broadside, especially for the fact he can be repainted/retooled into Tidalwave.

 

How can he? HasTak explained that characters will retain their legacy gimmicks in Siege, so Tidal Wave would need to retain his ability to turn into the Dark Fleet. He was never a triple-changer in the UT.

Simple, generations selects. Hot shot was never a Jeep in the unicron trilogy and the generations selects hot shot also doesn’t sport a cyber key gimmick. In addition the legacy gimmick is more of a guideline than a rule. Aragon (who is part of siege proper and not generations selects) doesn’t retain his legacy gimmick.

 

I wasn't aware that the "pull-back-and-let-go" gimmick counted. Or Shockwave's "lights & sounds". Or Flywheels' autotransforming. I thought Hasbro meant in-character gimmicks. Like alt mode types. Did they not...?

No, I agree that it's not far fetched to see Tidal Wave appear in Selects, I never argued against that in the first place. But I'd think that he would have a place in the Titan class, since HasTak are running out of cityformers to put in there. Something's gotta come after Scorponok if they continue Titans, and half the forum are religiously opposed to a Titan Sky Lynx.

Maybe I'm crazy. =/

 

eh...I don't know if we will actually see another titan after scorp, after all, no other retailer besides the lateish toysrus would carry a titan, Maybe I'm wrong and we'll see a titan class grand galvatron, because that's the most logical choice for the next titan

A titan tidal wave as part of siege proper would ignore his legacy gimmick of combining with megatron and the only precedent for him being titan would be a non canon video game and maybe his first episode. Out of necessity for retaining his legacy gimmick (which is him combining with megatron, not part of him, all of him) any new mold tidal wave would be commander class at most

He was Titan-sized in several scenes in Armada and Energon. That's a good point with the legacy gimmick though. That reinforces my original pint too, that Tidal Wave necessarily can't be a retool of Broadside under Hasbro's rules.

 

Except thus far all unicron trilogy imports in wfc haven’t retained their gimmicks. No cyber key gimmicks and galaxy prime doesn’t have Leo breaker or wingsaber to combine with. There’s also selects which is much more forgiving in regards to legacy gimmicks and more apt to do the opportunistic retool

Possibly. They could also use the excuse that “g1” tidal wave was the import from titans return and thus being a triple changer would be retaining his legacy gimmick. Not a fully legit way of doing it, but it could work

 

I’d like to see a Rad. Maybe with the motorcycle altmode he is rumored to have.
