    that's all still largely speculation

if they did end up hitting retailers to stop selling then that would mean ebay too so no one would even be able to sell their second hand thirdy party transformers

also if hasbro are gunning for zeta now it's not that it was a competing product to start with that's at fault it's the official only fans kicking up a fuss about it which has got their attention i bet there's been loads of hastak white knights emailing them

funny thing is when the haslab kickstarted only lost one or 2 in the other thread the sky was suddenly falling :lol  ... how many has it actually lost last time i looked it was 20? i think? and just with that amount it was like it was the end of the world :lol

hasbro should be pushing harder to sell their product it's not been handled very well

Neat, but still speculation. Not really too different from the other ramblings on the internet. I still think Asian markets will get this and it can't as easily be stopped from selling in China. Just my impression though, I have no legal knowledge on the matter.

Reminds me of this one Too Gear episode where they covered local Chinese car manufacturers. I think there was a blatant knock off of a BMW but it was only in the China market. I liken this to this Zeta situation in a way

As it has been said in the comments above, it's just speculation.

Seibertron.com isn't exactly 3P friendly. Like Omegalock's post on FB about Hasbro going after KO companies from a few weeks ago. Just other sites jumping on the scaremongering that best suits their position.

I'm finding this entire situation entertaining in an * car crash* kind of way. I'm probably going to get banned from a few facebook groups because I keep saying that Hasbro is in the wrong. They got pissed that a third party sniped their golden goose and did it better. China doesn't feel IP infrigment is a thing. Hasbro is mad because Zeta took the opportunity to show their product as Superior to the official.

    Ebay:
Some suppliers in regions where HasTak can flex their legal power might be getting 'discouraged' from carrying it.

Simply put, Zeta Toys' Unicron undercuts the official one; costs less and the scale apparently works better for some folks.

For HasTak to *not* do anything about the figure would be a shock, TBH. Their Unicron already missed it's first deadline for crowd funding... To miss it again because another unofficial figure siphoned some potential orders would look bad.

Wow! First time seeing these pics. Was just reading this: 3rd Party (Not) Unicron Apparently Removed by Hasbro

This figure looks incredible! It makes the HasLab Unicron look like an old G1 Soundwave with loose joints. My only complaint is that the craters are too symmetrical. But surely a collaboration is in order. Yes? No? Maybe?

I don't see this as a good move by Hasbro. They might lose more preorders out of spite. I get that they are threatened and that they legally own Unicron, but still think it might have damaged their chances of getting it funded (not to mention that to me, Haslab Unicron doesn't hold a candle to Zeta Toy's).

Hopefully Zeta Toys will just lay low till Haslab is funded or out of the picture.

Well, we finally did it, guys. We pushed and pushed and pushed and now Hasbro is taking action. Even some of the die-hard official fans have admitted that 3rd party has forced Has/Tak to work harder and give people the figures they've been wanting. Now, if 3rd party dies out completely because Hasbro took action here, they'll need to take action everywhere because of the laws in place. That does nothing for us as consumers. I ended up buying Hasbro stuff sometimes because the 3rd party stuff enhanced it. Yes, sometimes the 3rd party figures replaced an official in my collection, but the majority of my collection is official by a good bit.

Their well is starting to run dry and I'm getting to the end of buying new pieces for my collection. Once G1 redux ends, I'm pretty much done aside from a figure here and there.

Heck, I cut back ON 3rd party because Has/Tak have done such a great job as of late. Problem is, they wouldn't have if 3rd party hadn't lit a fire under their butts. There are plenty of collectors, such as myself, who collect both and think both have a place on their shelves.

This will definitely make a lot of people bitter IF they are actually going after 3rd parties in any fashion. It's one thing to go after KOs, I completely and wholeheartedly agree with them taking those down because they could be made with unsafe materials, fail drop tests, etc, but 3rd party? Not even the same.

I know, people will say this is Chicken Little-ism stuff, but it really isn't. We've all seen the post about "Don't tell us about it, then we have to fight it!" and it's actually very true. US law provides too much wiggle room for stuff like this, forcing companies to really put their foot down, so if Hasbro is indeed going after Zeta (and they've already made a copyright strike on Empire Of The Sun, which is more or less suing him, look it up, it's actually a serious issue. Philip DeFranco is a good source of information on this subject.) other 3rd parties will have to be targeted as well because Zeta will turn against their competition and point out that the other companies exist, etc, and how it's unfair. It is unfair, btw, so Hasbro would have to go after all of them.

Maybe they'll find some way to allow this to happen after backing is completed, or they're just shooing Zeta away for the time being so we're looking away, then come back after the dust has settled, etc. This may merely be a scare tactic, but either way, this is definitely something to keep our eyes peeled for. IF Hasbro is actually going after 3rd party, it's been a long time coming and waiting until now makes them look kind of petty and will alienate a good number of fans.

It’s not that they’re not 3rd party friendly. They allow discussions and everything on boards. They just don’t cover news and articles which is totally their choice and is fine. A lot of that probably has to do with the guy who owns the site has a very outstanding relationship with Hasbro which isn’t a bad thing. Its just a form of respect

Just like tfwiki they only focus on official transformers stuff

Lot of tl;dr in this thread based on rumours from idiotic social media posts. It'd be entertaining if it wasn't so tedious to trawl though the long winded explanations as to why x/y/z caused a/b/c when no one has a fucking clue what's going on yet. Crazy idea, why not wait for Zeta or HasTak to make an actual comment so when it does happen it doesn't get lost in a fog of screeching. Crazy I know.

a dcma is nothing like that at all. i have friends who are big youtubers and they get dcma strikes all the time with no futher actions. mostly it is for music that is in the vids randomly.

a dcma notice is google / youtube asking you to take down or edit the offending material in a timely fashion or they will do it for you. they also only work in a host country that recognizes dcma's.

sure you could escalate it and file an objection and the counter sue them in 14 days. but it usually isnt that serious and something only an idiot would do. it is much simpler just to edit the vid or image.

I haven't been around long but I used to assume 3rd party and quite frankly...fans ...used to be more discreet. When Zeta is flaunting directly in front of Hasbro should anyone be surprised. When fans routinely eschew the the rights holder, to where it causes a risk for said company..its bound to happen. Its not about right or wrong, its about a company protecting its property. Its common sense for the rabbit not poke at the gorilla.

Good riddance to Zeta. Unlikely as it is, I hope they're gone for good.

It's a complete low blow to try to compete with and prevent the creators of the characters you regularly profit off of from even getting their figure made. If Zeta had revealed this after the crowdfund was over, I would have no issue, but announcing it and then revealing it during the Hasbro crowdfund was too much. I want my Unicron to get made, and I certainly don't want some 3P company to be the reason it doesn't.

Like it or not, Zeta owes Hasbro for creating the characters they make figures of. And this is how they treat Hasbro in return?

I hope Zeta is truly dead and gone.
