When I looked at the pictures, first thing I thought about was the huge gummi bears that they sell for Xmas or in FYE.  Now all they need to do is a repaint of the clear white one and the Universe brownish one.

More bare than I expected but still really happy with what I see. I was worried they might NOT do him in clear plastic but thankfully they ended up doing so. Definitely gonna get this as it's what I was hoping we'd get for a redeco anyway. If we were to get a Universe based deco I'd be solid and set.

 

Thankfully we have the Tamashii flames, but I think some extra accessories would have made a world of difference. Stuff like what we got with 18+ for blast effects, and how 19+ has the smoke effects. If they weren't planning on developing new flame tampos, putting hardly ANY paint on this guy, or remolding some limbs to include sculpted flames (this would've been so sick), they should have done this release before going all out with the other "+" versions. It makes this one looks so goddamn lazy.

That said I hope he's still salvageable. Either with the flame effect pieces or something else. He's either going to look extremely underwhelming next to the Lio Convoy repaint, or that repaint will join this one in being a massive "what the hell" release.

That's not a knock on the figure...Just a random thought really...

 

I think he looks really sharp. Sometimes less is more. He channels the animation perfectly to me. Not sure if I will ever own him, but I definitely wouldn't mind.

 

About the grey head - go back to page 11 and check the screenshots I posted for yourself - but could it be that Takara is imagining what the head would have looked like without the animation glow?

His head was bright blue before powering up, but when he was powered up he had a glowing aura around him. So take the glowing aura away - because the toy can't do that - and are we left with that same blue head? It does have a blue tint to it but it's washed out/grey in the animation.

At this point I'm straight up not liking the gold lips - I'll never display that head - but the blue noggin I'm unsure on. Maybe it should be muted? Maybe it shouldn't? It's hard to say.

It's worth noting in one frame he had a gold faceplate and in another you can see beast mode flame detail/arm flame detail. So I'm just going to chalk those up to cel animation errors.

 

Once I saw the digi with a different color head, I realized it’s not the head that was bothering me, it’s his proportions. That may be something that I’ll get over when I pick up MP-38.

 

If that was the case we wouldn't have all these newer MPs bending over backwards to match what was drawn instead of what was intended. It's ridiculous the lengths they'll go to so that we can get perfect screen accuracies that's aren't even consistent on the show. I can't name one design element of the new MPs that should be taken as an interpretive piece instead of what we saw in some cheap animation frame more than not.

 

Already have MP-38, and I'm planning to get MP-48. Will leave those two in bot mode shaking hands. If/when Tak/Tom release a Flash Lio-Convoy to go with this Burning Convoy, will leave both in beast mode with MP-38+ riding MP-48+(guessing the #
here) into battle like in the movie.





Then a MP in scale version of Majin Zarak for them to square off against.  

 

I think that was a custom (I remember seeing a custom white Primal) since to my knowledge there was no white version released.

Surprising really, because there have been many releases of the original Ultra Primal: regular, crystal (just clear), burning (clear red), grey (grey parts instead of black), Universe, 10th anniversary show accurate version with proper face (both Hasbro and TT), another version in show accurate colours but with faceplate, Universe version, and three Lucky Draw versions: chrome gold, (Bom Bom) blue (black parts replaced with blue), amd red (red instead of black). Have most of them, save for the Legends and of course the Lucky Draw version -- and especially the blue and red Lucky Draw I would love to have (for a lot less money than the going price).

(There have also been prototypes for sale on e-bay of which the universe version is the most interesting: it's more mustard colour instad of brown, with brighter green and a greenish shade of yellow for the swords/missiles.)

 

You say that sarcastically but I seriously have been waiting for an MP figure to hit the size of the haslab Unicron. I know it probably won't ever happen as one figure, but I still want something massive with MP quality

 

Believe me, I've have been waiting for any kind of toy (MP or otherwise) of Majin Zarak ever since I saw him in the BWII movie. My sarcasm is actually a sad truth that we will probably never see him in any kind of toy form. If they ever did, it would be a great day of rejoicing for Majin Zarak's fans.

 

Well how many people thought we would never get BW MPs? How many people thought we would never get BW2 MPs? How many people thought we would never get Bayformer MPs? I would say the day we get an MP combiner, literally anything is up for grabs.

 

Gonna piggyback off of Bob 121 and add that if that were truly the case, Flash Lio Convoy's head would've been drawn to reflect such an effect as well, since both him and Primal have blue heads.
But as Flash, his head is gold.

That went from rumor to fact in a hurry. But in my experience here, the rumors are usually true on this forum.

 

It really wouldve been better if they made his head gold.
