In the late '70s/early '80s, kids in the New England area were introduced to Spaceketeers as part of "Force Five", consisting of five Japanese animated shows (Spaceketeers being the only one that was not a giant robot show) and each show was aired on a specific day of the week. Dangard Ace aired on Mondays, Starvengers aired on Tuesdays, Spaceketeers aired on Wednesdays, Grandizer aired on Thursdays and Gaiking aired on Fridays. This is my Headmaster Aurora Cosmos. Aurora Cosmos is made using Titans Return Blurr. Though you might not recognize that Blurr was used because I flipped his vehicle mode so that the back was this vehicle's front, twisted the windshield so it is on the underside of the vehicle, and have the arms forming different parts of the vehicle This was probably my most heavily modified custom to date. Some of the modifications include both molded parts and building bricks (some whole, some heavily modified) to construct the ship bridge tower. The flatter surfaces are from the building blocks while the detailed parts are molded from ROTF-Depthcharge's bridge tower and Siege Shockwave's bridge tower. Additionally, the parts that help form the outer feet and the hinge they swing on are made from modified building blocks with epoxy putty as well. The 2 vents on top of the "wings" and under the nose are molded from the vent on Blurr's back. The vent on the "hood" also molded. The side cannons attached to the nose are molded from Siege Ultra Magnus's guns with some additional parts added to allow it to attach to the main body. The back tail fins are molded from Classic Jetfire wings. All sculpted and molded parts were made using epoxy putty. Epoxy putty was also used to fill in the empty space on the inside of the forearms. The 3 launch bay canopies are molded using a 3d ink pen (I Do 3D Go!) to create the blue domes and lightly coated with Testors clear parts cement/window maker to produce the glossy glass effect. The weapons in robot mode are his cannon/gun made using the detachable vehicle nose and the staff made from 2 SW/TF Crossovers legend lightsabers. The staff is meant to pay homage to the staff used by Dart in the series. Paints used were a combination of Testors enamels and Krylon Short Cuts spray enamels. Colors used were Krylon flat white, flat black and pepper red, and Testors sea blue, silver, custom grays, a custom light semi-metallic blue and flat black. I used Krylon Matte Finish Gloss to protect the paint and flatten the colors. Each Spaceketeers headmaster is able to become the head for the robot mode. This is an homage to the Japanese Headmasters show, where the headmasters were the character and their vehicle was not sentient. This also allowed different traits to be given to the large robot bodies depending on which headmaster combined with them (as seen in the show, where headmasters switched larger robot bodies when that body needed a strength or speed boost). I also included a panel showing tech specs with each headmaster which attaches inside Aurora Cosmos's chest (as an homage to the original toy's chest's ability to show the tech specs achieved from connecting various headmasters. Headmaster Dart gives the robot a speed boost, Headmaster Arimos gives the robot an intelligence boost and Headmaster Porkos gives the robot a strength boost. This combination creates the entities known as Dart Cosmos, Arimos Cosmos and Porkos Cosmos (respectively). Each Spaceketeers headmaster's vehicle also converts to a weapon which for the robot to use. Combined with Headmaster Dart to form: Dart Cosmos Combined with Headmaster Arimos to form: Arimos Cosmos Combined with Headmaster Porkos to form: Porkos Cosmos Spaceketeers fleet:
These are fantastic! I especially love how each head also has its corresponding vehicle. And one of them's a biplane?! Awesome!!
