Sorry I would have explained further before but I was on my way out the door at the time.

I was comparing the merit of the offer to other offers such as the occasional Paypal offer, Topcashback & even the odd time ebay give you a voucher. Comparing 8% (ish) to that means I have to spend over $60.00 or buy something that is cheap or a fair priced auction item (rather than BIN) to get some good use out of it. Other wise waiting for a $3.00 or $5.00 or similar TCB voucher has more benefit in terms of effective discount - Now if I was buying something like a 3rd Party item then it's perfect fine and useful - but I tend to slant towards buying more items that are under $20 so the TCB vouchers work out as a greater saving.

I do find I've been therefore buying more things like weapons kits, Hasbro items under $25.00 and MFT releases than I have buying the $45-$100 items. I guess I got into the habit of waiting for a mythical 15% sale and because it never arrived I just got out of the buying habit, There isn't a huge amount I'd want though just the odd Wei Jiang of BMB item I wanted to play catch up on and the odd Combiner related thing. I have been finding that TF safari is often (though not always) cheaper even with a voucher than eBay so I increasingly just order from them too.

To give an example of how things sometimes work out :
Shockwave's Lab SL 52 kit is $15.99 on eBay with $1.28 in ebay bucks (today)
It's $16.99 on TF Safari (so not cheaper this time)
I bought one on ebay in August with normal ebay bucks of $0.16 and I also got a $5.00 off $15.00 spent TCB offer on it.

Anyway I hope my answer was helpful

You all need to factor in that Ebay now collect sales tax, so Ebay bucks are not that feasible compared to buying direct (no tax and free shipping, from Asian dealers, or if you are able to work a deal avoiding ebay with the seller). Gone are days of flash sales, and now if there is to be a 15% off, that sale basically covers sales taxs.

ah, gotcha - thanks for the explanation!

how often do PP or TCB have such $3 or $5 offers though? i feel like i see them rarely (maybe once or twice a year from TCB, and can't remember the last PP one at all)...

i've never used tfsafari before - will have to check them out. thanks again! :)

ebay doesn't collect taxes in all states though (yet), so it's still a viable option for some people, if the price is right...
(also, where do you live that has 15% sales tax?!?)

too bad the flash sales seem to be gone for good though - it's weird to think of those as the "good ole days", haha! :D

the sales taxes are killing ebay..... the last 2 months its a dead zone. Feels like the only one's buying on the site are people looking to buy half price and make a profit ..

I miss the flash sales......... Ebay needs them more than ever to get buyers back

and thankfully here in Illinois I dont have to pay taxes when I buy on Ebay..... although I'm worried that one day this crappy state will adopt that law.

I believe the days of waiting for those 15-20% off days are over. Awesome when they were in effect, but don’t seem to b9e coming back any time soon.

The offers are quite often between the UK and USA TCB sites it's every few weeks.
for example : (uk and usa both)

    $5.00 off $15.00 - 18th August
    $5.00 off $15.00 - 7th July
    £3.00 off £5.00 - 5th July
    $5.00 off $15.00 - 6th June
    £2.50 off £10.00 - 27th May
    £2.50 off £10.00 - 7th May
    $5.00 off $15.00 - 27th April
    £3.00 off £5.00 - 22nd April
    £5.00 off £10.00 - 24th March
    $5.00 off $15.00 - 19th March

In general though if there is a holiday or special date of the end of a season that is when they have them in general.

Are you signed up to receive eBay bucks on all your purchases? You have to sign up for some reason.

I only receive eBay bucks crap. Well, that and 60% off clothing that I've never purchased before online like Adidas and Calvin Klein. Then, there's the occasional 30% off Craftsman Lawnmowers.

Whenever the coupon happens to be toys, the code never works, so I stopped checking.
