In case, someone wonders his opinion. He thinks it's trash. He didn't figure out how to ride Spike so don't bother to look.

I'm still really curious/excited to see how Spike gets inserted into Bee's alt mode. I remember you saying @Phamduc that it's something we won't expect. I know some may be disappointed that we can't simply put him in via the door, but personally I think that sounds fun. Maybe that will be a sort of "masterpiece moment" in itself.

You lift up the roof and front part of the bonnet hood, and insert him that way, like this:

    bb-open.jpg

A bit weird, given the opening doors, but at least Spike can go inside!

Oh that's cool. I don't mind it, plenty of toys open in weird ways for figurine access. More odd to me is that the reviewer got frustrated at not being able to figure it out. It seems like an obvious thing to try lol.

Yeah, definitely odd! I worked it out after @Phamduc said it was not what you would expect and asked him, and he confirmed it. From the review it looks as though you have to separate the hood/feet to release the hood part before you can lift that section up to put Spike in. You would have thought the reviewer would have figured it out.

What I'd love to know is what the deal is with the weird greeble on the rear headlights:

    rear-lights.jpg

That's not part of a real-world Beetle or part of the character model:

    TF_Ark_page-004.jpg
    back_of_car1.jpg

Nor is it part of the transformation. So why did they add such odd - and slightly ugly - details to an otherwise beautiful representation of cartoon Bumblebee's alt mode, right down to the fake part at the back to represent the back of his head that protruded from between the rear lights? Are those details based on anything?

EDIT: I answered my own question. It turns out those details are from a real-life Beetle - the 1973-1980 US Beetle:

beetle parts elephants foot tail lamp1.jpg

Mid America Motorworks - Air Cooled VW Parts & Accessories 866.350.4535

Genuine Hella Rear Lamp Unit Complete Beetle 1974 Onwards

Still, odd they added such random real-world detailing to a cartoon-accurate car, especially when the rear lights are a completely different shape!

Weird! :lol  But awesome. That made me curious, so I went and checked my various VW Beetle bots from over the years, and found that none of the others - even the MPs which have the lights but not the etching - have those details molded. But oddly, to a much lesser extent, G1 Goldbug and my vintage Gobots Bug Bite do! :lol  So my head canon is this is a pretool for Goldbug or a Gobots homage. (Not in reality, don't at me people lol.)

This shit is gold. They started off thrashing mp45 bad design inaccurate backpack, small pins, huge feet, idiocy of designing it to be accurate from the front but the rest of the angle it fell apart.... halfway through they swing to play devil's advocate by praising hastak on its design, toy being cheap, epic design, clever transformation .... in the end they ended up sucking all the energy left of them as they can no longer go on with their sarcasm anymore.

All in all it's pretty mp45 is a huge let down.

I love that. It’s very 1987 nebulon style.
Fusion aesthetics my dude. Strange but cool.

Thanks for the pics! I’m considering swapping a leg from mp44 Spike with mp45 Spike so that each has a magnet in one leg (which should be sufficient for sticking to Prime’s trailer I’d expect). Either that or just swap heads of the two figures to have a magnetized, hard-hat free Spike.

Is it me, or is spike's face a bit more chunky here?

Or if you want magnets in both feet of both figures and are feeling up to it, you could order some of these K&J Magnetics: D11-N52, drill holes in the feet and add magnets.

I think I may do that myself. :)

Oh man that would be cool but I would be more likely to slip and drill a hole in my index finger, while simultaneously destroying poor Spike. Great option for those of you who are super-handy though!
