Your lucky. Paid full for mine (preorder). I watched a video last night about Target clearance shopping. Walmart is doing the same, they need to move inventory--that is all they care about. If they want to clear shelves some stock gets discounted. Odd so soon, but sometimes that clearance model is a store to store thing. I am anxiously awaiting the 35th anniversary editions.
Walmart has a couple Soundwave reissues left...lots of cassette 2 packs. WW2 bee wave of SS. 1 Megatron siege Voyager. And some of the Prowl, Ironhide wave for siege. Target, has A Starscream, and 2 Soundwave Voyagers for Siege. Shockwaves for Leaders. Remaines of the Ironhide and Brunt waves for deluxe. SS wave with Dropkick , and Hightower finally showed up.. bought one of each of them. Left copter drift there. No new leaders... Grimlock is blocking new stock. 2 10 pack minicon exclusive packs there as well.. plus all the other lines figures...which seam to be up to date on waves.
Bloomington Walmart has a few sets of the Hightower deluxe SS wave but that's about it for new stuff. No Jetfires let alone clearance ones.
I'm guessing singles? I only need 5-packs right now, and the Arcade Renegades pack, if it ever hits retail. I got one online, but there's only 1 version of it that has ALL the new recolors, and I don't wanna play 'return and rebuy' until I get the right one. :EDIT: Also, Bloomington Target has a couple Micromaster sets and one Rainmaker set and that's about it. Also Also.... anyone notice how the number of unicron backers seems to be steadily... uh... declining?
I dunno man, I watched this video: And even though the Zeta one is smaller... it'll probably be like a half to 2/3's of the cost of the Hasbro one. While it's hard to compare the painted hasbro one to the unpainted Zeta one, I do think the Hasbro one looks better in both modes, but the Zeta one has considerably better engineering and seems to handle the bot mode more eloquently (with way WAY less kibble). It's so much smaller, tho. It's funny: this clearly isn't a rush job on Zeta's part, but it's not a rush job on Hasbro's part either, but I'm guessing Hasbro caught wind of Zeta and put theirs out first, with the mentality of "no one is going to buy a kibbly, unicron for 600 even with the size and a cooler looking planet mode." (because frankly, the mouth on the zeta one looks like ass) It's a little worrisome too; 3p has always competed with 3p (remember the 3 Predakings we got at the same time?) but has never tried to take a bite outta Hasbro's sandwich in such a direct fashion. With the way Bandai has gotten Gundam 3p companies like Dragon Momoko and the fact that WeiJang got 'shut down' recently, it seems like the Zeta Unicron might never happen because Hasbro's got a whole month to whip some litigation together, and I could see them doing it in this instance. I'm torn. The Zeta bot mode definitely would be more 'accurate' I guess, but I like the Siege aesthetic a LOT at this point and as much as Hasbro coulda done better with the kibble and the weird rubber spike strips hanging off his back, I'm not gonna be displaying Unicron's back. Also Zeta's planet mouth is bad. Also I don't own any Zeta figures but I've seen a couple people describe their plastic to be similar to gunpla, which is fine on gunpla but prolly not great on a big-ass unicron. On the other hand, I'd be way more willing to risk QC problems on a $400 figure than a $600 figure, and knowing Zeta's pricing, Unicron could be even less than that... but he'd be smaller than Metroplex... AnD iT oNlY hAs OnE bEaRd!!!1!11! The irony is, they're both still basically shellformers that break the shells into little bits, Zeta's just uses the bits better.
I'm hoping Haslab Unicron sees the light of day. Haven't backed it yet, was waiting till the 11th hour before, now that it's extended will do the same. I'm still in the process of selling off my entire classics collection (recently sold off my misb Amazon Unicron) but I want this as a one off big ass planet mode display piece. Would look good on top of my speaker. That spot is currently occupied by Metroplex though. I still feel like this thing may not happen so I'm keeping Metroplex and Trypticon for the time being. Hell, Haslab Unicron is cheap actually. I saw that my team, the Eagles are playing the Vikings here in about a month, looked up what 3 tickets would cost. Yikes!!!! Like I said, Unicron is cheap in comparison.
That was my thought, too. For the most part, Hasbro and Takara have let the 3Ps go. But if they look at Zeta and watch their Unicron pre-orders drop...they could decide 3Ps are becoming a problem.
Ha, I say this to people all the time. For as many TFs/Mechs as I buy... they're not terribly expensive overall compared to a lot of other hobbies people have.
I'll be picking up the Zeta Unicron just based on its size, and the very limited amount of space I have in my collection. In fact , I have to sell something similarly sized to open a spot. I have low ceilings where I keep my collection, so I only have 19 inches to work with from the top of a detolf to the ceiling.
Yes, singles. That sucks about the Arcade Renegades pack. Shame it wasn't a "one and done" set with just arcade bots, that would have been much more appealing of a purchase.
yeah, the worst part is that the ones stamped 1-5 actually contain 4 bots from s1 and s2. >< The upshot is that all of the sets come with the 8 new molds and 4 of the new recolors, so you're still getting 12 new bots that can't be found elsewhere and all of the new molds in one swoop. I've basically decided I'm not worrying about recolors because of it, and also because, honestly, how many versions of the lollypop and hockey puck do I need?
Oh dang, that Zeta Unicron video I posted got taken down by Hasbro for copyright infringement... Looks like that lawsuit is prolly gearing up.
Hasbro can do that for US based entities like YouTube and Facebook, but it's all still up everywhere else. Everyone that wants a Zeta Unicron will get one. Hasbro can't do shit about it.
