From the photos I've seen with their beachcomber, he looks a tad short to me, brawn is meant to be a little bigger than other minibots according the sunbow scale charts.

It's FansToys. Those two things are pretty much guaranteed I think.
Nah. I'm long past the point of saying that sort of thing about anyone's figures. Takara could top this, just as FansToys has topped some of Takara's stuff.
I'm very confident that FT AccousticWave will beat MP-13, Hoodlum beat Hot Rod and I know that Meteor beat MP-11.
I feel that Magic Square and Transforme Elements topped Takara with Optimus. (TE could have won top place if they'd included thigh rotation).
But MP Hound beat Willis, MP Shockwave beat Quakewave and MP Megatron beat ALL the other 3P Megatrons (and was in turn beaten by its own KO).

The problem with stating absolutes is that few things in life are actually absolute. The rate of progress and improvement in this hobby is astonishing and what looked perfect 12 months ago can be quickly surpassed by a newer design.

In more specific terms, I think Takara could probably do as well or better than this for Brawn because when they bring their A-game to the look and feel and don't compromise it for gimmicks and articulation, their stuff can be glorious.
But more and more we are seeing exactly those types of compromises, so I'd say there s a 50/50 chance on whether a Takara Brawn would be better or worse.
If it's done with the Hound design ethos, then it would probably win. If it's done with the new Optimus style then not a chance. Bumblebee is squarely in the middle with some great and some terrible parts.

At this point, anything more than about 2 years old, from ANY company, can potentially be outdone by a newer product.

Unfortunately, Minibot scale is now kind of all over the place:
DX9 Powerglide, XTB Cosmos, and the new Bumblebee are all pretty tall.
XTB Beachcomber, BC Huffer, and XTB Windcharger are pretty short.
BC Warpath is tall and wide, while FT's Warpath looks slimmer but still fairly tall.
And the various Seasprays manage to be both short in the body and tall thanks to the spoiler over their heads.

The one good thing about all that is there's enough variation and we have multiple tall and short and a few in between so that when you lump them all together, no one individual bot stands out as excessively tall compared to the others.
Except for BC Warptath. It's cool and all but just looks too big for almost ANY minibot collection. Hopefully, FT's will fit better.

I know, I hope so, but I was disappointed with my last Fanstoys purchase, FT Roadking (motormaster), having a lack of paint (it barely had any - especially no glossy FT Sovereign style paint) and diecast heft (comparatively to its size)

MM had to be an exception for FT rule on good paint jobs because he's big (like Skyfire) and has a lot of pieces that compact together (like Springer). Even Galvatron has pieces that aren't painted because they all collapse together in one of his modes. Plus, dependent on how he combines, it may have been safer to minimize paint so it couldn't scratch.

This guy kind of puts Bad Cube's Brawny to shame. The legs and feet are head and shoulders better that BC's stumpy legs and weird, baby feet.

I hope this guy comes with two alternate heads. I like the yelling/action face, but the regular one looks a little vanilla to me.

I’m getting this figure. But, when do you think we’ll hear news of an Outback repaint / slight remold?

@soundfreak then you have something like Hoodlum that had paint chips right out of the box, and Quietus that unless you are either super careful or never transform him or if you put him on his landing gear wrong you would chip the chest. FT isn't without their problems.

Just noticed that BBTS has a cannon included with the figure under accessories. Either inaccurate or odd. o_O

Right I forgot about the movie Autobots not having much paint. I wasn’t really talking about the quality of paint though, more the general coverage. On the note about Cyclonus, anyone know if the T version has the same paint issues?

Yeah, I get the reference, my question is, is he coming with a cannon or did they just picture him with MP 36's cannon or is BBTS mistaken by saying he's coming with a cannon? o_O

    Oohhh. Sorry.
I have No idea what’s actually coming with it. A cannon would be cool but I trust BBTS about as far as I could throw them so I would wait for confirmation.

I really hope we get more photos of this soon. I guess TF Con October 25th-27th is the soonest we'll see anything?

Couldn't agree more. It kills all the cartoon accuracy of the molds.

I vehemently disagree. It may not make your action figures look like cell shaded drawings but it makes them look accurate to what the cartoon was actually trying to convey. Why else would the cartoon have had all those wavy colors if not to convey reflections and metallic/shininess. I want my toys to look like that character, not a bad drawing of the character.

And I want mine to look like what was shown to my eyes, not like what someone else may have seen it in his mind.

Plus shiny paint simply doesn't fit with the rest of the MP line.
