Heat guns get hotter than hairdryers, and I wouldn’t even recommend hairdryers. The worst part about excessive heat on thin plastic is not just the warping but also the shrinking. Yes, too much heat can do that to plastic. It’s better to try dipping the antenna tips in boiling water . Then bend the plastic to the shape you want and run it under a cold faucet while it’s held in that shape to set it.

Due to the plastic being so soft, I ended up just manually warp it by hand, just slowly curling and bending it towards the opposite direction.

I really love the idea of connecting the fuel hose to the repair bay. The kid in me is imagining each Autobot walking over to get refueled like a gas station. The trailer is a great interactive playset with the tiny people and all those configurations.

Yes bro and my son's gone crazy for it, too! I never had the G1 Optimus as a kid (Ultra Magnus' white Prime became my Optimus), but I did go nuts for Starcom and the trailer, gunship, Roller, and minifigs bring all that back for me.

    We're good, man.

Your damage was tragic, but fortunately covered by Amz-jp for replacement.

Just try to be a bit more careful and inspect your toy for factory-defects before doing anything on it that they may use as a reason to void your warranty for it.

I highly doubt it’s only AJ sending out defective Primes . At this point I’d say it’s luck of the draw . DeanML received his copy from AJ and his is perfect . I’ll be getting my from TCP. So it’s all a total crap shoot . Fingers crossed for a flawless purchase .

I actually got two from AJ and have no real problems to report. The flight stands won't lock and there's a small dot of white missing on one of the Prime's insignia, but that's it.

Thanks for the advice. Another Q: is there a good means of reducing the chances of paint chipping on the figure? Does a coat of floor polish help in that regard at all?

As much as I see people here loving floor polish, i really can't recommend it due to how easily it yellows. Some time this weekend, I will make another disassembly tutorial for the most efficient way to cover your MP-44 with topcoat, which is more durable and has UV protection (depending on which one you get.) I will upload a shopping list when I post that too. Unless you would like me to assemble one now, so that you can be ready during the weekend.

When I get mine I'll see what's up with him, and if worse comes to worse, I'll let TFS know I got a dud.

Not sure if only AJ-purchasers are posting about the the knees-issue.

    Some fatal and some not-so-fatal.

Anecdotally, I got mine from AJ and it doesn't have the knees-issue, fortunately.

Regardless, every one should check their MP-44 back-knees if that little blue-tab is catching correctly to the slot for it as per design intention when bending the knees.

No ratchet-clicks may signal that it is not catching properly.

Ok, I'm starting to appreciate the S1 head more than I thought I would. His normal look to me is TFTM with the orange roof lights and the default head sculpt. But it's kind of neat that this Prime has a lot of different looks based on the sculpt and the sight lines you get from your perspective. I can get a skinny Japanese looking S1 Prime and a beefier TFTM Prime with the same toy. Even the paint sometimes looks more purple and other times it seems more bluish gray. SOmehow they were able design different looks into the same toy similar to how we've seen him drawn differently in the show. The articulation can put him in extreme poses that rival different product lines but it can also let me dial down some subtlety to my usual neutral posing. Getting down to the roots of a transformer toy, I don't need to buy 2 or more different Primes to get all of this...it's all in 1 toy.

Like a lot of people on this thread have stated, I can't justify the price for this. Not worth it to me. However, seeing everything he comes with, I understand why it is what it is. I also do think he looks great and would love playing around with this guy. I wish TT made a "base package" that only included prime, his weapon and maybe some effects parts for a substantially lesser price tag. I would be all over that as I'm sure many others who are hesitating would as well. I think many of those waiting for the KO would reconsider also.

This evokes s1 perfectly. I also didn’t think I’d like the round head as much. The downward pointing mouth plate bothered me, but I’m getting used to it. I’ve had it on mine the last couple days alone with the battle axe!
