Apeface is in desperate need of paint. Something to break up all those solid slabs of color. Especially that awful creamy white.

Pass on him. I was interested with the CGI renders, but not anymore. Money saved, I guess.

 

Nothing else about this figure is Siege quality IMO. So if he's actually Siege Megatron's height or larger (no other Voyager in this line is bigger than Megatron) then it's safe to say that he's a leftover mold from Titan Return with a sprinkle of Battle Damage to make him "Siege Approved".

 

not a fan of the battle damage myself . I bet they release a clean set of the movie characters though at the next anniversary of the movie.

Waiting on Amazon links for the target master and micromaster. I cant find them on Amazon US or AMAZON Japan. Ever since the brand unification thing went into effect, Its actually cheaper to import them to Japan with Amazon US than buying them directly from amazon Japan

 

Hopefully a Snapdragon is forthcoming and will use the *exact* same color. As bad as it is, some consistency between the two will help.

 

The ironic thing for me is that Apeface was the original reason I wanted to give collecting Transformers another try. But I put that idea on hold while looking at ideas before sticking with my current one. And seeing him like this has me feel like I made a good choice to hold off. Because, after all, we still have not gotten the remaining Autobot Targetmasters, right?  

Agreed. And if it was not the QC issues when it came to that line’s packaging, I’d get him for my original plan (1987 upgrade collection).

I never thought I’d be nervous about a preorder but that messed up ape mode does not look good to me. Please tell me it’s just miss transformed. And what the hell happened to the figure color? The White does not look as clean as the the SDCC pictures. Damn...Can’t wait to see the reviews on this figure.

 

I really dislike what they did with the headmaster here.

Putting the face on the legs leaves that big hinge right on the forehead, which doesn’t look good at all. Plus, it doesn’t seem that he’ll be able to sit on the peg system which was designed for the back of the normal TM’s legs. If they had just put the monkey visor on the legs I’d be so much happier with this.

Really hope the individually released Apeface Head scales ok, it’s a much better face sculpt and doesnt have those issues.



Anyone know how the headmaster pilots the jet? The cockpit seems to be one solid piece

 

Gonna have to get 2 Apefaces. The Horrorcons have been on my wishlist for an update since forever and I really love how he turned out.
Not even hearing the whiners about the ape mode cause they clearly don’t remember that his ape mode was always shitty. If you fix it it’s no longer Apeface.

Really glad I held out on getting Kingorilla cause that was my last resort and that IS a shitty figure compared to this one. Especially for a figure labeling itself as “Masterpiece” style.

 

It could be something like TR Megatron where the "cockpit" itself didn't actually open, but more like a section of the whole nosecone lifted to get the figure in.

 

Get in the robot Singe.

Probably gonna need Apeface, he's not perfect but he'll do.

 

I have him on pre-order since it popped up. Now still need Snapdragon. Btw it does look like the neck on the ape is mis-transformed. That panel looks like it should tab in somehow. But that isn't new either for "official" pictures. Long live the interns!

Same. I've been wondering how they were gonna do it.
I gotta be honest, it's kind of ingenious. I thought the gorilla face would have to be done like the TR Leaders: a mask that flipped on top of the TM, or else the Titan Master wouldn't be used in gorilla mode.

Obviously it's not gonna be for everyone, but I'm impressed.

(All dat unpainted white plastic tho)

ooo, there's a thought. I didn't think about using the TR head for the figure, someone should try that. Even though it's probably too small or something.  

 

Compared to the renders on the preorder page, this doesnt look very good and has made me cancel said preorder.

 

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. This was taken with harsh studio lights.
I've got plenty of bots with unpainted plastic, and they (usually) look better in person, with natural light.

 

Im not a big fan of the character anyways but thought Id give it a chance. This will not look much better in different lighting as the white is what looks the worst., IMO. It looks like a very dull off white compared to like jetfire white.
