I'm still trying to make sense of those tabs on the knee ratchets. Mine look like this (no going into the white part of the knee) and the ratchets function fine without any irregularity

    IMG_6416 copy.jpg

Frankly I can't even see a slot where it could slide in. On mine it simply pinches against the upper thigh when the top ratchet is fully bent, and then the bottom ratchet starts clicking.

Good for you, glad your copy is ok but mine has the knee issue. I’m aware there isn’t a second run.

    Also, my questions are excellent.

Take a video bending it while showing the tab, and with sound please.

we can then determine if it’s working properly.

Here is how it is supposed to work:

Observe more closely and you should see that when the lower joint is moving and clicking that blue tab should be running inside a channel in the white part. You can see the entrance of the channel about two more screw head widths directly to the right of that screw on the left of the pic.

It's always a shame when a very small number of people report a problem on a new product, and the community treats that rarely occurring problem like a widespread QC issue.

Heh, sorry, but I found this extraordinarily funny. Everything is PERFECT... other than that pesky paint chipping problem. :lol  Haha, for something this expensive, I'd call that a pretty big problem and the farthest thing from "perfect".

Sorry, I know it's touchy ground here to say anything negative about this figure despite it evidently snapping & breaking on people, not being painted properly for other people, and is flaking & chipping for even other people, so hopefully that doesn't offend the inexplicably defensive white-knighter clique that goes after everyone who says boo about the QC issues.

    Now for my roasting...

I love the figure, but I’m afraid it IS a widespread issue. Look at the number of people on here Or how many popular reviewers that have the same issue. It’s a shame but it is widespread. And an issue.

    Hopefully they fix it!

Your right. It is annoying and shouldn't be expected on a figure this.

Guess I can only speak for myself, but for me it's just a case of the positive far out weighing the negative.

Not want to bash 3rd party (as I am a fan) but I wouldn't trade my MP44 with a (fixable) dodgy knee for any amount of TE01'S

I don't know if I'd characterize it that way, personally. Granted, 70 people isn't a huge sample size, and I periodically post this in this topic in hopes more people without issues will vote, but literally since the day this was posted it's been 50/50 give or take a couple of percentage points more or less, despite growing daily albeit slowly:

    Minor/Repaint: - MP-44 General Fix Thread

Half of 70 people isn't what I'd call a "very small" number of people. I'd call it "relatively" small, relative to the total number sold, but the topic above demonstrates very clearly what the issue is and that it's something that could have been avoided.

And given that the fix is to stabilize the two internal halves of the mechanism, essentially making them a single piece, and seems to work so well, I'm forced to agree with those who call this what it imo is: a clear design flaw prone to issues. (Semantics of QC issue vs design flaw aside, it's unacceptable on a piece of this price and caliber either way.)

That said, I also continue to maintain that this is the only MP Prime for me, and as soon as a second run is eventually produced that addresses it, I'll happily buy him. Even at this price. I'd much rather go official for something so much love and artistry was clearly put into vs "waiting for a KO" as is so often the refrain here, so I am more than willing to be patient and wait for that to happen. (That said, it TT never address it and a year has gone by and that option emerges and lacks these issues entirely... I might just have to, personally in this instance. I say this as a typical TT "defender," and who thinks this is the greatest looking Prime ever produced other than this issue by my standards, mind you.)

I know people love this figure, and I'm vicariously loving it too. I think it truly lives up to the name "masterpiece" and even outdoes the rest of the line to date in my eyes. I really, really want to own it. But I have to call a spade a spade, too. This is a lot of money. Money I'm willing to pay, if long life and quality are present. Right now I can't say I'm satisfied that they are.

I hope more people without issues will vote in that poll (as well as those with the issue) so we can try and get a larger sample size (I know it will never be a proper scientific poll, but it's as good as we're going to get as a community.)

Argh, is there a good video showing this thing being put back into vehicle mode? I cannot get the side panels lined up correctly for love or money on my second copy, even though I managed to massage the ones on my first copy into place perfectly and am doing everything the same - I must have fluked something before I guess. I've tried lining up the tabs under the blue crotch piece and they are in place, but still no dice. I love this figure, he's absolutely stunning, but my opinion of the transformation - that it is as bad as anything by a third party such as X-Transbots or BadCube - has not changed yet, sadly. I'm hoping I learn the techniques and it gets easier, but right now it's frustrating as hell.

A lot of people are reporting this video helps a ton.

And while that one makes for a far better step by step guide and explanation, I also love this one aesthetically and for mentally breaking down the process into logical sections:

Hmm...now I’m tempted to make my own video. There’s several things you gotta do while you’re finishing up to make sure everything lines up properly. For the red cab sides, make sure you go for the shoulder-adjacent tab first, then place your thumb on the bottom of the arm panel that sticks out the bottom, and squeeze the arm up while pressing gently on the cab side panel until it clicks in. Massage the truck gas tank and the blue panel above it that it slots into until things click together. Everything should line up properly now, or at least it does on my copy.
