Challenge of the GoBots premiered 35 years ago today with "Battle for GoBotron." September 9th, 1984. How old were you?
14, so old enough to appreciate the toon but too old to buy them And when I first read it I thought this was a thread for either Aussies or Godzilla fans
I was 7. I enjoyed the cartoon at the time but I have a hard time watching it now. I love the toys. The last Transformers convention I went to, I came home with almost as many Go-Bots as Transformers.
I was 8. I watched the show all the time, same as TFs. I still have my box of Gobots, but I didn’t take as good care of them as I did with my TFs.
I was almost six. And honestly, neither the cartoon nor toyline were that bad. Hell, I think Leader-One had a better toy than the Seekers. Yeah, I said it and meant it.
Eight-ish? I saw the Go-bots on a rented VHS and made Go-bots with my Lego's. But I don't remember the toon or toys being a thing over here.
I was -7, so when they finally got to my country 10 years later (and somehow it was the same year the Transformers have premiered here as well, starting with Masterforce), I was ready.
I thought the cartoon was so-so as a kid, but loved the toys. I appreciated the mostly real-world designs and die-cast, and used to love mixing them within my Hot Wheels cars in that 70's looking city car playset I used to have. The one that you could fold up into a carry case.
I was 7. I don't remember the show at all, and I may or may not have seen any of it. I do remember the toys though. I thought they were pretty fun. Not as good as Transformers, but enjoyable nonetheless.
8 years old. But I didn't watch it because I thought Hanna Barbara animation looked horrible. We were starting to get tastes of Eastern Animation here in the West and it was glorious. Too bad Warner and Disney started foisting their in-house animation on us in the late 80's into the 1990's. Not that it was bad...but it still wasn't anime.
