This is the single carded release of Whirl, who transforms into a race car. Not sure if this is the wave with Grimlock but all the repacked characters I saw were on the Rescue Bots Academy card. Found in Ft. Wayne, IN for $7.88.
...so this is a morbot retool?.. ...morbots are great figures, but it seems like a weird fit for whirl's branding...
A car robot named Whirl... I mean, it isn't that much dumber than a DINOBOT named Grimlock who turns into the Metal Slug tank (thanks, War Within)
That's Hot Shot. He's an ATV car and a plane and a hoverboat. I'm hoping some third party company can give him all his alt modes in a single toy.
I've had her a few weeks - I've yet to see that Hovercraft Hotshot in the wild though - that may be the bigger news. As for the critique of her mode - I think it's perfectly in keeping with the theme of the TV show where the characters have multiple alt modes / body types they use in different situations - so they are simply training her for road based rescues as well as air - just as Hotshot is trained for water based and Aerial rescues as well as his normal default Buggy mode. Also it's pretty much the same idea seen in Playskool "Go Bots" Transformers where the likes of Speed-Bot had multiple bodies too. In that line Aero-bot was usually an aerial robot but also had a Sports car & racing mode offering too (as well as that rather spiffy unreleased Helicopter mode). So her ground vehicle mode is fine in context - she might even get a Boat mode eventually too.
I think Whirl was in the previous Wave with Grimlock (Who I also got - he's rather fun) and Hover-Hotspot is the new wave (the one they had at SDCC). I do wish they'd perhaps revisit some of the characters who only got the one toy - or perhaps make someone who had a larger toy have a smaller one. I could likely pick up that 4 pack if I really wanted too - but it may require an online order - I think I will get it fairly soon as I'd like that Buggy Hotshot in that set - and the Whirl would be useful too as she can lift her arms. Hopefully they have a Blades shared engineering design they can turn into a small Helicopter Whirl before to long. I'm glad Chase is getting lots of re-issues but it might be nice if I could ever see the Bike Mode Chase as I've never laid eye on it. I was wondering was the green Drake the only new Minicon Hasbro made - as it seems odd that they'd only release the single item like that.
I just realized all of these Rescue Bots are color-coded to match the Paw Patrol. Even Hot Shot the orange hovercraft. ...the things you don't realize until you have a 2 year old
i have yet to see a helicopter whirl anywhere . She is my favourite rescue bot but i dont want one that turns into a car .
there is only the megabots (11-inch) sized one. in the rescan size you can only get the car one or the vtol jet version in the academy rescue pack. so far at least.
the 11 inch one might be too big for her simplistic design ... but i could consider it i would say its 95% car
