Lucia being added to SF5 made me go back and have another look at Final Fight 3 today and was pleasantry surprised at how much better it is then I remember, I think I must have been mentally lumping it in with the second game or something.

I also spotted the recentish TMNT arcade beat 'em up at a new bowling alley the other day, think i'll probably go there next week to try it out. Crusi'n Blast was there as well, but I've never been been much of a fan of the series.

Combat is a blast. I wish I had more than Atari Greatest Hits Vol. 1.

Game Sack video reviewing a advanced copy of the Sega Genesis Mini. Seems like high marks all around, though one of the controllers packaged with this particular copy came non-functional.

Random but interesting, the Arcade Archives release of Neo Turf Masters has apparently just been patched to change all regions to the Japanese name (Big Tournament Golf) because the IRL Golf Masters people decided to be dicks and stoped them renewing the trademark. Good job as I am sure people would have got totally confused between a 23 year old arcade game with a mostly different name and their tournment.

Also, I wish I was a mid-90s game developer so I could have had the opportunity to use a 3ft long Saturn -

Not sure how I managed to miss it at the time, probably because it's only on their Twitter account of all fucking places, but found today that Machine Games made a semi-official new expansion pack for Quake's 20th anniversary 3 years ago and gave it away for free -

    machinegames on Twitter

Also quick reminder in case anyone missed it, John Romero release a new episode for Doom a couple of months ago which is also either free or $6.66 depending on whether you want a Buckethead soundtrack -

    SI6IL — Romero Games

Another couple of things for my impossible backlog.

I totally forgot he was making an entirely new episode. I played his replacement E1M8 level and really enjoyed that. Played through a couple maps and its pretty good though, if not a little rough.

As I have the Mega Drive Mini on pre-order and I also own a Multi-Mega, a Mega Drive 1 and a Mega CD 1 I just checked how much worth the games I own, that are also present on the Mega Drive Mini, and the Mega Drive + Mega CD would be. I could get between 500 and 600 € if it works out.

I actually like owning the games and the old console. But to be honest they are just catching dust here. And I wouldn't lose anything as I still have the Multi-Mega (and an Everdrive cartridge as well) and the Mega Drive Mini.

I cannot decide if I want to go for the money (and I would gain more room, as I could get rid of the old CRT TV as well) and if I do, if I better sell it individually or as a package. But it appears people tend to not want to pay much more than 300 on bundles, even if the contents would be worth much more.

But I really like looking at my Mega Drive, it's also an asian one with the red stripe and the big golden 16 BIT. The Mega Drive Mini will be the european one, as I like the game list on that one more (really wish I could have the asian one but with the european game list).

Do you think the prices on eBay will go down, once the Mega Drive Mini has been released?

And it's funny how much people pay for complete Shinobi III and Castlevania on eBay. I'm pretty sure I did not pay that much for them on eBay 5 years ago.

You've got a flash cart and you can legally buy the ROM files for over half the games on the mini for dirt cheap on Steam, you can sell the cartridges whilst still legally owning the games and turn a good profit.

Im in the same boat. I love my retro games but they are just sitting there collecting dust for the last few years.

something just doesnt feel the same playing the games digally for me tho. sure its the same gaming experience but it must be something from my childhood as far as wanting to hold onto the actual cart. theres some unidentifiable magic for me in having the physical copy.

Its a tough call since we have hd options today. Gonna take some time to decide what I even want to do.

I thought that first I'm gonna try to sell mega drive and mega CD bundled. If I get my price, I think about selling shinobi 3 and Castlevania, as they are the next two big prices.

But I will let it sink in for a few hours. First to the cinema. But I already took pictures for ebay, so that if I decide to sell the consoles, I can put them onto eBay.

Personally I've slowed way down in collecting physical carts, especially after getting some flashcarts. It kind of kills the desire to spend major dollars on cartridges when you literally have every NES/Famicom game on one convenient package. I've concentrated on finishing my N64 collection (just six of the most expensive/rarest carts from completion of course) and collect more consoles/handhelds than anything else. I want to grab a Genesis, Master System, TG-16 and Gameboy flashcart sometime in the future.

I'd think twice before selling any of your consoles and maybe look into flashcarts. It's great being able to play on original hardware.

    Happy birthday, Sega Dreamcast!!!

I'm glad that there are still games on Dreamcast that wasn't ported over to other system.

I think the rarest game I have is the red labeled version of Mortal Kombat Gold. The green labeled version of MKG has a glitch that makes it impossible to save data.

Speaking of flash carts... I haven't had a lot of time to write about it, but I recently got my TerraOnion Mega SD, and it definitely delivers. The price is tough to swallow, but if you don't already have a Genesis/Megadrive/Master System/Mark III cart, the value for the price gets considerably better. It plays games for all of the aforementioned systems (on 16-bit consoles only, not on original SMS/Mk.III) including some games not supported by EverDrive carts. It includes FM audio for SMS and Mark III games, in-game reset and menu hotkeys, automatic region patching, and all the other bells and whistles you'd expect from an ED cart. It also supports exFAT filesystems, so you don't need to format your micro SD card any special way.

But the big feature is obviously the Sega/Mega CD support. It brings support for running CD games from SD, even with no actual CD unit attached--and it works on consoles that normally do not support the CD add-ons at all! You can even use this in a Nomad or a Genesis 3, although full audio will require some minor modding with a soldering iron. Owners of actual Sega/Mega CD hardware still get some benefits: No more burning CD-Rs, no more wear and tear on your laser and motor, faster load times, and faster scaling and rotation in CD games (e.g. Sonic CD bonus stage). These last two are optional, and can be disabled for compatibility or authenticity.

Like the higher end Everdrives, the Mega SD works as a save RAM cart for CD games (real ones, or from the SD card) and can load modified or alternate region CD BIOS files. Unlike Everdrive, you can have it create a totally separate save memory for each individual game, and automatically choose a specific BIOS file depending on the region of the game selected.

Before mine arrived, TerraOnion released a firmware update that enables playing the non-32X version of Virtua Racing. Soon, users are supposed to be able to load graphical preview thumbnails for each game, to be displayed while browsing the menu!

I remember you talking about this, I remember looking it up, I remember doing the euro to cad conversion and I remember having to shut that shit down. BUT it's impressive as hell AND some N.A. distributors are going to get some which may help the price (if only a little bit). Plus I get a Genesis and Master System cart in one package, which is cheaper than buying one of each.
