Hi everyone who recently got his from BBTS. Is it safe to assume that their remaining stocks do not have the issue or I have to apply the fix most likely?
The mold was never changed and issues pop up in every batch some more then others, the main thing i heard is the hips was more first few batches and not present in later batches thou exceptions do pop up. the tail fix i do recomend just a matter of time and better to fix that with glue over sticker him up and then have to take them off to fix him. I would not recomend cutting springs... not sure who thought of that brainiac idea but it's a bad one.
What was the tail fix? The only issue that I notice with mine is that the left hip doesn't stay flush against the side of Trypticon. The ratchets feel fine.
i am afraid I am not good at opening and making these simple fixes. Both are on sale at the moment but still there is a substantial difference in price. I will sleep over it and decide in a bit which one to get. Thank you.
Yup always a good choice it's not very hard thou the hardest part was getting the tail out otherwise it's a few screws nothing like combiner wars megatron hands (that took me longer to do then the tail fix) Rotorstorm did a outstanding job with how to do pictures and the if you glue the part it stays working. The takara tomy one has the exact same issues and is identical so it's go with cheaper when it's litterly the same thing just differnt box at a different price point. Also my Full tilt head was on super super tight and that took effeort enough that i was worried it might break but once the headmaster head poped off i was able to use tweezers to unpry the head and opened the headmaster to return his head. But ya lots to think about, i was at first really upset the tail was broken on mine after 1 use then it felt off (no clicking) afterwards and i had to do the tail fix and rebent the chest back since then i have toyhax stickered him up and been happy since.
Ohhhh I thought that the Takara version is most likely not having this problem. Now I am most sure I will take the 80$ less Hasbro version. Thanks for the inputs to all.
I had none of the reported issues with my TakaraTomy release, but I fully accept that's more the exception than the rule. I think I was only missing the tail issue for my Hasbro one. All the best Maz
Nope exact same mold they where already making it when Trypticon won toy of the year (while not realsed in the US at this point until the covention) and a fan then brought up the hip issue and i think the tail thou that is when many people where starting to report the taila nd chest issues. The hasbro staff had not clues and said they would look into it, by this point Takara Tomy had already started their production of the figure. THis was also a odditidy because much of the Takara tomy staff where pulled to work with hasbro on the new Bee movie line.
Never had a trypticon, looking to buy one, but i want one to fit my g1 metroplex in size, what is the best choice ?
Batch 82351 Both legs are bad, door's fine, asymmetrical towers. Not sure how to tell if the tail has issues or not but i'm probably gonna do the fix anyway.
Extra notes on my copy: Tail doesn't makes any noises (that I'd associate with the gears grinding themselves to bits, anyway), sorta clicks into upright and lower positions rather easily. Again i'm not sure exactly what i'm looking for without opening him up. I just hear plastic on plastic. The Hasbro branding on the figure has been scratched out, I'm assuming this is a Takara thing? I'd assume maybe I had the fixed legs of that version but i could not move them before I opened them up.
So a click is normal but a LOUD noise for the tail isn't? Sorry Mine arrives tomorrow and I don't want to break it, my son and I will be playing with these alot.
When I got my Takara version in, the tail immediately broke when I tried to move it. Hips seem fine though. I opened him up and actually cut a small hole for the inner part of the tail ratchet. It wouldn't sit flush otherwise, which seems to be part of the reason for it breaking. You can't see it from the outside and it's been great ever since. It has probably been mentioned before, but I used this thread: Minor/Repaint: - TR Trypticon tail fix guide. (Pic heavy)
Just got mine from BBTS and I have batch number 82281 and everything seems fine. Ratchets are little tight I dunno if I should do the leg fix or not. No door issues far as I can see. No tail issues either. I haven’t attempted to transform him yet. I’ll keep y’all posted. Update: transformed him flawlessly to city mode and battle ship mode. I think we can put this batch number with the good. Thank Primus. I was afraid to buy trypticon for a year! Glad I lucked out.
Guys, my tail ratchet on mine is f'ed (batch 71461 the door is warped because the gun in the package is pushing against the figure hence warping the door, hips are fine though), doesn't hold position. Can someone explain to me the tail fix and what the glue does to that piece?? Is it supposed to be a non moving part? (The part that gets glued)
Just an update, I put a spacer nut on the shaft that holds the ratchet instead of gluing it down. The spacer puts pressure on the ratchet holding it in place so the tabs don't break when pressure is applied. I wonder why Hasbro didn't think of this before??? There must be a reason.
Every Trypticon batch has issues some get a good one others get a bad one, i do highly recommend the tail fix with the glue the joint, that seems to be a smart preventive fix so you never have to worry, especially since i applied toyhax stickers to the figure i do not want to have the tail go on my after abit. PS cutting springs is not a fix i would recommend, the hot water on the chest to straiten it out i do recommend if it's warped.
