Oh look they finally put an actual artist on the book... not... whatever the hell it was we were getting. Oh and Kei Zama going to Marvel for Death\'s Head... I knew Marvel would snag her. She was way, way , way too good for IDW. And she\'s going to be a Superstar at Marvel. Just watch. With Mike Deodato leaving Marvel, they\'re going to put her on all the gritty books that need very high detail art in the next few years.
I don't really like Nautica as a character, but I do like her design, and I kinda wish we had a more accessible figure for her. That being said, they really should have changed her character design a little bit from past MTMTE and so on, as i looks out of place next to the toy inspired characters. Also Light-Bright is in the crowd
See the problem is that marvel is SO FUCKING SHIT RIGHT NOW. God IDW had so much hope. The ONLY company who did inclusivity and diversity right imo. Not forced like how fucking marvel does it for the sake of looking "woke"
Eh Marvel is mostly over that stuff if you ignore the handful of leftover "next generation" characters still carrying their own books. Avengers, Iron man, FF and Thor have been pretty awesome for a while. And what they're doing now with X-Men is phenomenal. It's completely bizarre and will almost certainly be retconned into the abyss a few years hence, but if ignore the fact that it's going to almost certainly exist out of continuity when Hickman puts all the toys back in the toybox, it's better than anything X-Men have had since the Grant Morrison era. Honestly the worst thing to happen in Marvel in the past year was that the great retro-promise of the Uncanny X-Men new volume turned into an Ultimatum-like "brutally snuff out every character" fest when Hickman was lined up to soft-reset X-Men and editorial let the writers go nuts with the few months they had left. That "woke" stuff is completely contained. Ms. Marvel and the like show up in 3 books and nobody reads them anyway. It's a big "who cares" now. Axel Alonso's mischief is long behind them.
Marvel isn't worth my time reading, because whatever is going on is going to be retconned out within a year anyway. DC has decided they will pay all their $ to that worthless hack Bendis, so the rest of their writers only get paid in Pogs and Beanie Babies. IDW has hired a writer on TF that should be writing for Sominex packaging... the copy on the box will put the consumer to sleep faster than the pills will.
Isn’t this the final issue of the arc? Something huge has to happen now, right? I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a wild action scene here
Whoever writes these comics never got the memo about things like "show don't tell" and "a picture is worth 1000 words".
Yes, please Hasbro hold your nerve, I’m the most optimistic I’ve been about a TF series for quite a while
While I'm sure many would challenge your assessment that Marvel has "completely contained" aforementioned content, I 100% agree with you on the X-Men relaunch. Hickman is killing it, that book is fantastic, consistently good each issue and currently my favorite title out; I'm super excited every week for each installment. Best X-men book in years, and I've also heard it's the best since Grant Morrison, so I co-sign that statement.
I totally understand you being irritated at seeing the same negative commentors all the time, but you also post in every thread countering people's negative opinions, saying how much you love the book and think it's the best run in years, so don't you think you're being a teensy bit hypocritical? Is there a limit to how many negative comments a person is allowed to make? Is there a rule that says each post must contain original content or new statement, otherwise it will be flagged as spam? Is this is a positive-only thread? It would make more sense to just create a Transformers appreciation thread with other like-minded individuals if you're trying to completely avoid the negs and/or are looking for people who share your love. Why not just ignore those people who don't like it? If you enjoy the book, who cares what people that hate the book think? For example, I'm currently enjoying 2 recent X-Men series called House of X, Powers of X. I think these are two of the best X-Men books in years and the writing is fantastic. Most people in the thread love the book, but we still get those people who chime in and say that the book "garbage", etc. But, you know...haters gonna hate. But it's their right to voice their dislike, even if it's the same people all the time. I don't care what they think, I love the books. Their negative opinions don't take away from my positive experience and I look forward to talking to others who share my love for it. But guess what? It's a public forum and it's those negative people's rights to post what they want and share their opinions, even if I don't like or agree with them. I think as long as they aren't being rude to individuals they should be allowed to voice their opinions, no matter how much I might disagree or find them to be repeating the same thing all the time. Free country, free mind, you know? Peace and love, mate.
I'm currently reading House of X and Powers of X. I believe Powers of X #1 is the first of the series. They are two concurrent titles that read as a single story; you really have to read both of them to understand the narrative. You also have to read them in a specific order so be sure to check the list in the back of the first issue, which tells you the reading order. Also, I would suggest reading all of the inserts, they have TONS of useful information that deepen the world-building. If you decide to check it out, I would love to hear your opinion on it.
Going from the above, it's House of X and Powers of X, which are two 6 issue limited series released on a weekly schedule, that are actually 1 series (the reading order is in the back). They're the best X-Men has been in years, but very, very different than anything before it. And some of the messages of it (Xavier pushing mutant nationalism) don't make any sense at all in the context of the X-Men's history. But it also deals with parallel worlds, the past, present, near future and far future. And once you accept that there is a good chance that few or none of the characters are likely the same character's we've seen for years and have their own histories, it's a pretty great read. Basically it's an Elseworlds written as a soft reboot that largely ignores everything since the Grand Morrison era. It actually snarkily calls the era since then up until now the "Lost Decade", which throws so much shade... lol.
Yeah it’s a fair point. I reserve the right to be hypocritical in this specific instance and in general. I doubt this will be the sole instance. But I’ll address the point specifically. I don’t have an issue with criticism if it’s thoughtful, respectful and articulate. It’s helpful and necessary. What I find annoying in this instance (and which I’ll concede I’ve been overzealous in reacting to) is the stated agenda that some posters have - ranging from discouraging people from reading the book to outright stating that they want to see it canceled. I do get that it’s a slower narrative, and I also understand that some people had a lot of affection for the prior run. But I think that everyone would be able to judge the new iteration more rationally and fairly a year from now rather than trying to kill it in its infancy - especially when it’s highly likely that the two main criticisms (“too much talking” and “no action”) will be entirely moot once the war that the story is building towards breaks out. Thank you. I will check it out.
Echoing what others have said, it’s House of X & Powers of X. Their six issues each and they rotate between each other starting with House of X #1. And each issue lists the reading order at the end of it.
I don't know...I think mutant nationalism makes perfect sense considering what happened with Genosha and "no more mutants". If people are always trying to kill you, how long before the nonviolent protest becomes useless? I can also see connections to Uncanny X-Men #200. I think it just makes sense when you compare it to the larger narrative of human history. It's a mirror image of what happened with Jews post holocaust. Building their own nation. Why wouldn't Xavier's views change in light of their history and Moira's revelations to him? But this isn't an X-Men thread, so I digress. But this book has so many people talking it's hard to not chime in.
