I know there's alot of tooing and froing about size but being shorter than the combiners is really stopping me wanting this. If it was marginally taller, say around DX9/FT Omega size I'd be on board without hesitation (as long as they nail the cartoon colours). That's only a cpl of inches taller and shouldn't be a huge price increase.

22/23" would be the sweet spot.

I felt the same but I keep looking back at the pics of the rear view of Haslab Unicron and that's pushing me away from that offering.

Personally I really want the Hasbro to fund so I can pick one up for planet mode. While Zeta’s planet mode isn’t nearly as bad as I was afraid it would be, it feels much too small. I’m resigned to the height of Zeta’s bot mode (I’d prefer bigger for MP but can work with this size for a display piece) but the planet compacts down a lot. Hasbro’s for all its shell-formery transformation produces a BIG planet.
Watching the Zeta video their planet looks smaller than a soccer ball.

At this stage I’m thinking Hasbro’s in planet mode hanging from the ceiling. I’ll paint up the teeny -tiny Galvatron from XTB Cyclonus to go with Hasbros planet mode to recreate the scene where he’s reformatted. And Zeta’s in bot mode standing atop the bot-sculptor Cybertron diorama. I also have Bot-sculptors Unicron head which can go on a seperate shelf as a different display piece (along with the Fallout76 Power Armor helmet and any other “helmet/head” collectables I pick up.) Of course I don’t really have space for any of that but I can figure it out. Too many nice high end collectable is a happy problem to have.

This along with the Shia "Just Do It" poster from The Last Knight thread years ago are my favourite posts. Bravo.

This would be nice, and if they don't, i'd hope a a fan-made kit could do it. We've got folks making decent Zeta combiner add-on kits, this would hopefully be easier.

I also second having a little cybertron moon to destroy. That would be cool.

Even with the wings being too short, i still think they look way better than the hasbro one. These look similar to the movie ones and they fold up nicely. They have that batwing finger feel to then. The hasbro wings are just ugly looking with the way they stick out from the robot mode. They're far too thick and look more like kibble than part of the design.

    Totally agree.
He'll never be in scale but should stand above the other bots to be representative of it.

Depends on what bots are representing.

I think too many forum members on these boards only see MP scale when any new toy is solicited.

This Unicron is taller than all of the combiners in my collection. These new sample event photos did a wonderful job of illustrating how huge he’ll look with my preferred Prime, Magic Square’s legend scale one. Everything looks very promising.

    I get that sentiment.

For me, I rather buy the Zeta one, and then would love it if someone just made a $75, nicely painted, hollow planet mode model to hang over him.

If Haslab fails, I'll buy this. I want the giant Unicron, this is a bit too small for me.

Though if Zeta upscaled this to the same size, I would probably go for the zeta version.

Zeta knows what they are doing, don’t want to say too much but they are things about Core Star that’s not going to indirectly impact Haslab for instance the release target date is early for Core Star.

That's one way to look at it.

Another way is those of us with Zeta combiners have 3 combiners bigger than Unicron now. If you're in for xtb/dx9/FT combiners then that's about to double in number. If it was 22/23" it'd work for everyone as being even bigger for you wouldn't be the end of the world.

As much as I like the look of this the Haslab one looks more enticing just because of pure size.

Absolutely, my comments are based on my collection, which is mostly mp based so he'd be smaller than my combiners which is a no go for me.
If you have a legends one it'll work wonderfully.

I do have some IF and if I was starting again I'd probably just do a legends collection and this would be a day one purchase.

Watching that video is a serious selling point AGAINST buying. What a mess.

Unless you don’t own any 40cm+ combiners and/or citybots, I think you almost have to place this in a legends-type of collection to give it a sense of belonging (whereas the Haslab will most likely have enough presence to work as a standalone piece in one’s collection). Perhaps Zeta’s yet to reveal how this is gonna ‘fit in’ (e.g. including some figurines, reveal of a new legends ‘“minus” line, a diorama, future accesories etc.).

Right now I’m a bit scared by the pricetag: 3P items of this size shouldn’t be so cheap. I’ve never owned a Zeta toy, but I’ve heard/read that their plastic isn’t great. With Haslab I get the feeling that they’re going for a significantly higher quality plastic - or denser at the least - compared to their mainline (to appeal to the higher end collectors I reckon). But at the price of $250 (give or take) I am not get my hopes up that Zeta is gonna follow suit.

I have all the combiners and there isn't anything to worry about with the plastic quality, it's perfectly fine. The 1st run of TW sect had some issue but the box set was much better.

Here's my thing about Unicron: no matter what size it is, it will be orders of magnitude too small. So might as well make it leader size so a person can display and manipulate it without much trouble.

Both Unicrons are too big to consider.
