Here's the source of the issue since I can't explain (thanks rego0012)
Sorry it's so confusing... I edited my post on page 5 with the following info:
    • Take the pin out of the hinge holding the backpack to his back with a pin push then remove it.
    • Pry off the glued plate on his butt (small flat head screwdriver should work) to have access to the screw and keep damage minimal.
    • After the backpack and the butt plate are removed, unscrew all of the screws in his back and the one on his butt. He will now come apart. Keep track of how the leg ratchets fit together and you should be fine.
    • To fix the bobble, take his waist ratchet housing and put it in a small clamp-this is how you can push the pin in the rest of the way.
    • My pin was sticking out of the housing by 1/8 inch so I turned the clamp about two times and it sunk all the way in.
    • Reassemble- it all fits one way, like a puzzle.

Indeed I am! While I feel like there is still a small bit of bow (and my bowing was pretty small already) the tabs at the back feel a LOT more stable as it used to pop out with a glance. But that’s good as I somewhat stripped the screws getting them out.

OK, this is a lot more straight forward. I’ll need a push pin and a clamp and probably NOT to strip the screws (I feel like I do that so much with screws! Am I torquing too much? Using the wrong size bit? Do I need a new small screw screwdriver? The world may never know).

Man I tried that on my first Hasbro copy, but that last step, "reassemble" is a LOT easier said than done.

I just couldn't get those leg springs back in. I gave up, returned it, and replaced with a Takara version. Lol

Yep that's all you need. And absolutely, stripping screws is no fun. I use several sizes and always test for a perfect fit.

Slow and steady turns work the best and it's a good idea to check your screws as you snug them up or remove factory set screws.
Damn, that's a shame. It is a bit tricky since the springs are so strong. I had to lay everything down front facing up then death grip the two crotch pieces to get them to sit properly and get the screw started.
Maybe thats the better option overall- just replace the loose copies with the takara version.

    Yeah.

Well it all worked out in the end. I was able to return my Hasbro copy and my Takara copy is flawless.

    Hey man, great find!

I just got the Takara version, and although it's lightyears better than the Hasbro one (in terms of issues), I still needed to fix a bit of the front end lifting of the legs.

    I used your technique.

I kept the legs in tact, and just bent them deeply at the knees, and using a diamond head engraver attachment on my dremel, I simply "erased" the patten that was on the gray part of his knee joints. (like how you advised to do)

Worked like a charm. I can probably run it over a few more times if I want it REALLY REALLY perfect, but as of now, I think it's fine. Thanks again.

yeah, refitting the hip ratchets back is a bit tricky. I do wonder if even though Hasbro/takara are selling the same product if there is actually a difference in facility? harking back to the time when the products catered for each market.

I didn't disassemble mine either, I did the same as you and went brute force with a hobby nipper.
I also took off the hand screws as mentioned in another post.
The waist on mine is fairly decent-and I don't have the tools to do the waist thing anyway-so I didn't do that fix.

I know others have reported issues with the knee but is it as common as the waist issue? It prevented mine from properly transforming but now that I fixed the waist I realized mine was relying on the waist bending forward so until I unpin the knees and shave them down the front section will refuse to tab at all

Oof, good toy marred by shit QC. Had to do the waist thing and remove the hand screws. That said, he's a nice chonky boy, and so much better than the gangly ROTF Long Haul. Probably my favourite CC next to Scrapmetal. I wish he had his guns from the game, though.

Another option would be if ur really go with a soldering gun undo the screws in the torso and carefully heat the pin head in the ratchet with the soldering iron tip

Yeah you can but it is harder. I ended up using the clamp because it pushed the pin in much easier with greater force and held more securely (the pin audibly popped in with no heat).
I tried heating the pin at first but after five minutes of heat and bending my iron's tip it wouldn't go in and the wrong areas were getting too soft. Even if it did go in with the iron I would have needed the same clamp to hold the hot parts together, since every pair of pliers and channel-locks I have leave teeth marks. I tried posting the easiest method for those with the tools. If you can get it to work use whatever method/tools work for you.

to avoid teeth marks wrap the jaws in tape
in my case i took a small piece of copper wire and wire cutters and undid the screws on the torso and then looped the wire around the ratchet and then twisted
the wire to lock it and cut the excess wire off

Man the QC on this guy is pretty pathetic. Mine has all the problems that have been listed by others plus a few of its own.

The left foot is especially egregious as the toes won’t stay in place or fold up correctly, plus the fit isn’t pinned correctly.

I really hope a revised release comes out, I don’t mind paying for another if it means that devy works correctly

As much as I champion the studio line..holy cow this one is a flaming ball of shit.

I was pretty excited for a new long haul, and yes, if you dont transform it or touch it it looks great. But DAMN....I dont care..if I was 7...12...or 44 i would know that this figure has issues.

It's just too bad. I dont complain to Hasbro too much..but this one may warrant a pictorial email.

Hey guys, I'm going to be selling my spare custom if anyone would like to purchase it please PM me. He's got some custom detailing and I fixed the bed so it pegs together really nicely and the joints have been fixed up real nice and tight. Real proud of this one.

I did it! I feel like there’s still a bit more room to move between ratchets but it doesn’t wiggle freely now! I found a c-clamp but it really wasn’t working well. So I used an adjustable pipe wrench and that worked great! I also picked up a bunch of various size pin punches and a center punch. And boy oh boy did that center punch work. Two clicks and I was able to pull out the pin!

Thank you so much for going over the instructions again for idiots like me.
