not too sure if there's any resource , I thought of it awhile back when I was boiling water . Basically just wait for steam to rise and let it touch the piece about a few centimetres away for a second or two . Works for unpainted pieces’s stress marks , but would fog up anything with topcoat .

I’ve bended those gunpla beam saber effects parts with it which while it’s of softer material , it’s also thicker than the antennas. But it bends back to shape if I steam it again , might be the malleable nature of it so I’m not 100% on those antennas .

Transformers have come a long way in 35 years. My dad still can’t believe that these look like the cartoon but still have a functioning transformation. I’ve caught him handling my cheaper stuff every now and then being blown away. His face was a sight I’ll never forget when I showed him the promotional video by TT for Prime.

He basically forced me in front of my computer and made me buy it

For $400, I think expecing a human figure to have an actual face is not too much to ask, but I'm sure that's been discussed to death already. I'm more concerned about defects I'm seeing while skimming through this huge thread.

I bent the antennas back on the S1 head and got rid of the Studio Ox look he had. It looks much better now.

I feel lucky that my prime has no paint blems or other issues...well except the mini figs but they you can pop the legs back on so no big deal. In 1984 I was 9 years old and was so obsessed with getting G1 Optimus for Christmas. My parents sure came through.
Initially I was afraid to transform MP44. I don't really collect as I got rid of my small collection a few years ago. I likely won't dive back in so deep , but had to have this. It will likely lead to the purchase of a few others.
I was a bit intimidated by the complex transformation, but watching some of the review videos were a huge help. I think it took me about 45 mins and made it though without so much as a scratch. This really is the definitive Optimus Prime. No amount of negative comments can take away how glad I am to have it.

    Thanks for that info! :)

Dude, that’s cool! How old is your dad? Sounds like he was a fan from back in the day.

So...attempting to transform this guy into alt-mode for the very first time but I can't seem to unpeg his waist, the tab under the grill, it's stuck so hard I think it'll snap it if I tug any harder (that sounds so wrong, haha!)? Any tips?

Check out wotafa on YouTube. He shows the MP-44 transformation both ways step by step slowly using good camera angles.

I'd do 3 and if you can't fix it, go to 1. 3 isn't that hard, but the time you need to heat the antenna will be different based on how powerful your hairdryer is. Take apart the head and remove the antennas. I used a tong with silicone tips to hold the antenna by it's base and just heated the top part against a table for about a minute. Make sure you keep it straight while it's cooling and thats about it.

The white is a bit difficult to match at the moment, I need to pick up some other whites soon. Maybe tomorrow. As for the greys, I actually noticed the stripes and the faces are 2 different greys, so I will do a tutorial for both of those soon enough. The blue will also require me to pick some things up at my local hobby store. Orange headlights will be up when I have the rest.
