I LOVE the fact that they thought of a way to help you pull out the Matrix from the chest without having to untransform the torso. The vehicle mode is also so gorgeous:

Yeah, I have some paint chips as well, but at least the Autobot symbol is pristine.

I was extremely excited to get him today. Spent the first hour just playing with the trailer and was giddy the whole time. Then I started transforming him. Getting the legs right and lining up with a certain peg in the back started my frustration. Then I came to the torso. I can either get the matrix chamber to tab in or the backpack flush at eye level but not both. And the more I fiddle the more I see a gap wanting to form on the chest panels. Also the backpack itself just makes for an eye sore. Once I got it the best it's going to get I lifted it up for a little shake test. What a floppy mess. I am extremely let down by this, especially considering the asking price. The last time I felt this level of disappointment was with Titans Fort Max. I will be boxing this up and reselling. Either this is the end of the line for my MP collecting or I need to break from the idea of only buying official and seriously consider other offerings.
To those that are loving this figure I envy you and don't want to detract from your enjoyment. I'm just frustrated or experiencing heavy buyers remorse.

Honestly with all this paint, I might try the white gloves, when I transform them.My nails aren't long but they're probably more than enough on more matte paint. My first Primal ended up with plenty of white bald spots.

I seriously hope mine doesn’t have serious scuffs on it like that one that looked like someone wiped it while wet.

If it’s a small nick I’ll be extremely happy, and I can do it myself with a tooth pick

I’m sorry that you’re not feeling it dude, maybe you wore yourself out on the trailer and all it’s gimmicks. Sleep on it and just focus on Prime next.

I was going to handle it with white gloves too I think, I won’t be handling him very often once he’s on a shelf but I don’t want fingerprints all over the chrome

So just to confirm: knees prone to breaking, antennae aren't straight due to soft plastic (my MP10 has this issue to some degree), chippy paint. Is that the laundry list of negs thus far?

Other than the knees, it seems pretty par for the course. Am I missing any?

Insignias nicked or badly painted (few pages back) and just a few paint chips. Some people also have warped pegs for the sides of the truck but that’s it I believe :(

I feel like this after a lot of new TF purchases, MP44 is no exception. My advice is to go do something else and forget about the figure for a little bit. Come back and re-explore the figure again. I guarantee you will correct some things and discover more about the figure. It may grow on you after you have him figured out better.

Initially, I was appalled by both the transformation scheme as well as his perceived floppyness. These two things no longer bother me at this point. It's just part of the package for him to be so beautiful as well as hyper articulate. He may be loose in some areas but this is mostly for tolerance purposes. All his joints are great and this figure can hold any pose you can imagine. He's not fragile.

Hopefully you can take a step back and appreciate what is done right here.

I’ve never really been an Optimus Prime fan, but having this figure in hand since Wednesday, I am starting to come around to him. First of all, I guess I was lucky in receiving an almost perfect figure: knees ratchet well (but I do handle them with extreme care), no paint blemishes to mention, and the whole figure holds together well. The hips are a little floppy for my taste, but the way he looks is just incredible, like he walked straight out of the cartoon.
I had some trouble getting him in alt mode the first time around: the gastanks are definitely a headache getting them straight, and I had some trouble getting his feet in their proper place to allow the side panels to flip back to their position. Also, I had some trouble finding Culler’s English lines in the voice box. But I was able to sort all those problems out, and even transforming him doesn’t seem so intimidating now. To be honest, MP-44 is the second Masterpiece I needed complete instructions for, after Sunstreaker; even MP-36 Megatron I was able to figure out by myself. But now I’ve done it, I feel it’s quite a bit easier than Megatron.
I haven’t even really messed with all the accessories yet, except for the axe. The trailer and all that comes with this figure just look like they can provide endless fun!

I’m not familiar with that process, so I don’t really have a stand on it at the moment. My concern with any heating method is that I won’t be able to get it to it’s “normal” shape and will cause more disfiguring.

Can you point me to a good resource for steaming technique?

Is this guy being shipped with defects as often as it appears? I see paint chips and bent antennae and why does TT have a problem painting faces on their human figures? For the price of this figure, you would think they would do that.
