I think they could do it and let it run like Voltron with minimal marketing. They keep it more “adult” like the original and it will pull in fans. Best think about Netflix and Amazon is they democratized entertainment. Ironically.

Hi as someone who’s thinking about starting a collection what should I collect? I’m thinking about the 25th anniversary figures and fss figures. Potentially even the sideshow ones even though they are more pricey

Really depends on what you're looking to collect. The subsequent 30th and POC as well as 50th anniversary figures really gave some great options on updates of classic ARAH figures. I'd definitely take 50th Gung Ho over 25th Gung Ho. Likewise for Destro and Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. There is a lot of options out there right now depending on what you're looking for.

Some of the later stuff like POC had crappy distribution so can be a bit pricey. If you're not looking for MOC, you should be able to pick up 25th lots for a decent price on eBay but I'd look for lots to lessen the expense..and just to put it out there,I do have some 25th figures I'm parting with if you have any interest, shoot me a PM and I'll let you know what I have.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that some of the later figures, particularly the Retaliation and possibly the 50th line use a slightly larger scale so some figures may not scale as well as earlier releases.

As I recall, the 25th figures themselves are larger than vintage and there are definitely some larger figures in the later lines but I don't believe they're to far off of the scale of the 25th.
FSS figures were all done using tooling that ranged from the 25th line thru the 50th line.

Slightly larger scale started with POC. The initial 25th releases are 3.75

I'd start with POC, some 25th ones are still good starting with wave 5, cobra Paraviper is a good one.

POC/30th/50th/Renegades are solid as well as the Retaliation "Ultimate" figures as Night Viper as well as Crimson Guard.

You're welcome. The 25th Iron Grenadier, POC/30th Iron Grenadiers and 25th IF Destro are worth picking up. Was there any specific Cobra member you were going for?

Yeah, the original ARAH and then 25th anniversary (slightly bigger) started with 3.75" but then it gradually went on to 4" when it got around to POC/50th, I believe.

The two that stand out as being a lot taller than the figures that came before are the 50th versions of Gung-Ho and Leatherneck. They just look like super big dudes compared to everyone else. Wish we had an ARAH style Roadblock like that.

I just measured a 25th Stalker as one of the shorter figures from the 25th line and he is maybe a hair under 4 inches. The Leatherneck from the 50th line is damn near 4.25 inches.

I love some of the high quality crazy looking dudes they came up with like the Jungle-Viper from POC, the Data-Viper from RET, and the Hazard-Viper and Zombie-Viper from the 30th.

Sideshow Cobra Commander and Baroness are especially awesome. The prices were decent for awhile, I don't know what they look like now though.

I'm still disappointed with "ultimate" SE. While probably the best V2, he feels way too skinny and they forgot to give him his backpack that they included in the box set.

Also I've always hated the non-sculpted details. They're just a ill-fitting floppy mess. Sculpt that shit, especially for V2 Snake eyes.

Looks like the second version of Cobra Commander is mostly sold out. I see one new for over $500. It is a great figure, but will definitely be expensive now. The Baroness is still available at a decent price. Firefly is cheaper than he was in the past.

Do you think they'll ever rerelease classic 80s figures like they're doing with G1 and Star Wars?

For ARAH Cobra Commander, yes the Retaliation Ultimate version is definitive. Comes with hood and battle mask and is much better than the 25th cartoon pack version(which was considered definitive prior) that came with the jetpack.
I doubt it, but who knows?

Yea they also ditched the new head sculpt tooled for it and instead used the Retaliation movie head sculpt.
The 30th anniversary version? Yes, it doesn't have the trigger finger connection that the maroon POC HISS Tank had and is a good size(bigger than the original HISS). Also has modular weapons.
