Just watched the video, the kibble less transformation is awesome but I'm torn, I like the size of hasbros but the design of this one.

People wonder at the weight. But does anyone know how heavy the Zeta combiners were?

I know Jinbao's GT Devastator KO OS was said to be 4kg and I found it quite unwieldy at times.

Superion is a bit less than 3kg, Bruticus a bit less than 4.

This one is pretty much perfect for me. Planet mode isn't horribly out of scale with Cybertron Primus, robot mode is bigger, yes, but not terrible and I like the underdog fight kind of deal anyway. The transformation is incredibly impressive, still film inaccurate (lol, I know, I know. Save it.) but it ticks all the boxes in everything else. Even the transformation is still a win, I love how everything hides and is done so smoothly and feels effortless by comparison. (To be fair, though, Hasbro's is literally weighed down, so it's kind of an unfair advantage. See? Yes, even I can be fair to the HasLab Unicron. This is one area where it's not a fair fight.)

The articulation/range of motion is fantastic. The stand design is incredible and I love it!

As of right now, CNY to USD makes it $210.xx so with shipping, we're looking at about $300.00... I'm definitely buying one, I'm all the way in on this one. Wow.

Still worried about the colors, I don't think an orange and silver planet mode is going to be accurate.
I'm going off how the planet mode and robot mode bits go into place and it's looking to be a miscolored mess either in Robot or Planet or both.
Can anyone with some good Photoshop be able to Color the planet mode according to how the pieces fit?

If I could I'd get the haslab one for planet mode and this for bot. As it is though i'll just be picking this up. The idea of a Unicron that's larger than everything I have is nice but realistically its never going to be in scale and I'll have it displayed away from other figures anyway. The transformation really floored me.

You do realize that 2 separate 3rd party companies made their own G1 OP right before MP-44's release right? The crowdfunding aspect does not matter, at the end of the day every company wants to sell as many copies as possible.

Yeah, Zeta needs to get the coloring absolutely right.

A bit of speculation now. This clearly isn't something they designed and produced in a month, so what do you guys think happened? They were by chance working on a Unicron when Haslab was revealed and decided to rush their to ride the hype, or they started developing it in secret because they had insider info about the Haslab project?

Sounds about right. I imagine the final version would have heavier and strengthened parts inside the 'core' of the bot.

The likes of TFC's Tactical Commander and G.O.D.'s Garatron are extremely heavy and solid for their size, if Zeta can do the same for this it would be a hit.

The only thing that stops me from getting this is the size. Make it slightly larger than Fortress Maximus and I will pre-order this in a heart beat. A Unicron toy will never be in scale with other MP figures but at least it should be the largest TF figure. Zeta planet mode is acceptable but could be better. However, my priority is the robot mode and Zeta really delivers (prefer more spikes though) and the transformation is just pure genius.

Well the Arturo Milomir route was the project started in 2017 but the ToyWorld issue happened it got delayed and then when that was over probably around mid 2018 they kept working on their Unicron and just kept tweaking til they found a good spot to show it off or put it up for Pre-Order which might've been coincidence or intentional but here we are.

I wonder if they could find a way to make the 'stand' work in robot mode as well. Just to give him a 'flying/hovering' pose so that it could loom over every other bot out there. Perhaps that would be enough to push people who wish 'if only it was bigger' to purchase it.

Agreed, it's not a deal breaker for me but I'd prefer it. Overall Zeta still have the better robot mode by far and I'm shocked at myself how important that is for me. I guess if haslab's was cheaper and a bit smaller I'd be more torn but £600 for a superior planet mode is a bit much when the robot mode is so underwhelming.

Agreed, and another thing I'll be personally watching for is: will they introduce a 'slightly off color scheme', then introduce the 'more desirable anime accurate scheme' after...I'm so tired of being burned as an early adopter of 3rd party items that get the inevitable fixes and improved paint on later runs.

Semi-related, but I'm not entirely convinced the Haslab one CAN stand in robot mode without the stand. In all the pics it seems to be really slumping against the stand hard.

    Why?
If it's not in scale anyway, why is it so vitally important to have it the largest figure?
What if someone makes a larger figure in future? Do you throw Unicron out?
I get that it would be nice if it were larger, but it isn't. You need to decide if you can handle that.

whoa, haven’t had time to watch the video yet but all the new pictures are really hitting my transformation engineering chords!

    a few concerns of mine:

    - rings are too small as many others have said. hopefully they’ll scale them up a bit
    - surface area in bot mode is too plain: adding more details would give the illusion of a larger scale (but making him larger would be better!)
    - planet teeth looks horrible
    - zeta qc. i’m tempted over and over again to pick constructor up, but following the thread and how more often than not people have had issues with him, makes me worried about zeta’s build quality in general.

but overall, i’m damn impressed. i was going to back haslab due to the sheer size, but main reason i held off on it was bc i simply was underwhelmed with the engineering efforts. if they had this level of engineering in their scale, i would’ve backed it day 1.

i’m going to follow this thread closely until the production piece is reviewed to see how their qc is, but i think the unicron wars has just began, and i think i’ll hold off on backing haslab (and i was going to get 2...)
