As a backer of Haslab as well I am amazed what Zeta has done in theirs. I will not be cancelling my Haslab backing but I think if Jinbao or Weijiang makes an oversized version of Zeta I will take that too.

is the zeta toys version available for pre-order anywhere yet?

I am glad that even if the haslab project fails, we get another shot at "Unicorn"

I agree that having watched the video Zeta has done an amazing job on the engineering. I don’t like a some of the styling and their planet is a bit of a mess but transformation engineering and articulation are undeniable. Their miniature version will make an awesome centerpiece for legend sized collections.

I’m reasonably sure they originally thought this was going to succeed just based on being Unicron alone, and didn’t plan/budget for any marketing campaign. When it was clear it wasn’t going to succeed in that timeline, they threw the extension out but likely never planned for a “What if this doesn’t succeed?” scenario.

You didn’t derail the thread. You offered constructive opinions and that is axing. Thanks! This is an alternate version to the official release. The Zeta interpretation has its benefits. It is smaller, has less kibble, and is way less expensive (1500 CNY). Those that have come here to claim it is “better” than the Haslabs version are derailing things. One is not better than the other. We can like certain elements more or less, but that is opinion and not fact. We are all entitled to our opinions and can share them constructively.

I do like some of the elements of the Zeta release. I much prefer the planet mode from Hasbro. I do really like how clean the robot mode is from Zeta. I’m a backer and have no intentions of changing my mind. I respect anyone who does, but I have been infatuated with the Haslab version since the day is saw the coverage from SDCC.

So I appreciate you sharing your opinions. I wish more would follow your lead and leave the attacks, negativity, and shade and the door.

Core Star is pretty cool, I can't deny that, but I'm still all in for the Hasbro version.

I would back hasbro if it was $100-200 cheaper. It just feels like they are charging a premium. I feel like zeta is a really good deal at $250 considering it has diecast.

HasLab better be prepping some exclusives to toss in with this in order to win over the fandom. I'm seriously interested in Zeta now, but I would still roll the dice on both if given a reason, then sell off the one that doesn't win me over. I would suggest a set of Hook, Line and Sinker figures. Another possibility would be a set of heads and accessories to convert existing toys at retail into other characters. That would avoid the cost of including several full size figures while still giving buyers the ability to put together exclusive figures. This needs more selling power at this price. Unicron alone isn't cutting it.

Still backing Haslab, but credit to where it’s due, Zeta just shows up to Hasbros porch and took a dump on it. I’ve planned to get both since Zeta announced theirs, but I’m more cemented in it now.

That Zeta Unicron is certainly interesting. That transformation looks like a nightmare though.

As a Haslab backer, it’s nice to know that there’s a second option out there if the Hasbro one doesn’t make it.

As an owner of Constructor, Armageddon and Kronos, I’m a little worried about the fragility of this piece. All three of the Zeta combiners are fragile, and that transformation video doesn’t make it seem that they have diverted from that design philosophy.

All that being said, it is a wonderful time to be a collector!

I said this before and I will say it again after watching zetatoys video.

Hasbro Unicron designers should feel ashamed that they spent 18 months only to come up with a shellformer!

Hasbro’s Unicron project showed nothing but laziness in both designing and marketing.

What if I told you that the Zeta Unicron is also a shellformer?

Yes, while it makes better use of the shells it’s still a shellformer.

That’s a terrifying amount of force on what’s quite a small joint holding the waist and torso together

I liked the shots of robot mode but seeing it in detail makes it look like a nightmare. Incredibly fragile, monstrously finnicky transformation, planet mode looks like garbo and so do the wings in robot mode. That mouth looks so bad it needs an alternate attachment. And those "hidden compartments" are just baffling. Some random plates on his arms? The abs popping open so you can scrunch a bot's head under it? Yeah that's a hard no from me. Say what you will about Hasbro's Unicron, you can tell it was done by professionals.
