I think the new photos have sold me on it. I've always wanted to set up a "1986 movie collection" of all the named characters, and I think this will be my Unicron that serves as the centerpiece. Now I just need to save up for it.

I'm happy with the size/price because I have limited space and there are other large-scale characters I hope to have (Studio Series Devs, maybe the DOTM Driller if that happens)

I hope both get made so that you can put Zeta inside Hasbro's planet mode shell, like a Russian nesting doll. "We heard you like Unicron, so we put some Unicron in your Unicron."

The HasLab Unicron can do something Zeta's can't: with some effort, I think you can display both planet and bot mode at the same time.

    Beat that, Zeta!

So you upgrade to a bigger motorcycle... and you still ain't getting to the moon.

Doesn't matter if they made it a bit taller than their combiners, it'd still be far too small to be in scale with anything else in our collections. So, no, I don't need it to be a bit bigger than their combiners. I'd rather they make something reasonably priced that doesn't require hired help to handle and transform and that I don't need to build or buy custom shelving just to display. 18" is fine.

This face sculpt just kills the HasLab offering. This one is much more accurate. The HasLab Unicron looks like he is wearing a wig from the Renaissance Fair.

They both look good in their own ways. (IMO)

The argument I don’t get towards zetas is that it’s more G1 accurate . Which I think comes from people mis-remembering what his beard was actually like. It wasn’t a robot face with a beard and Stache like zeta has, but rather his stache was a part of his actual face and the beard was the only thing seperate. His upper face just happens to form a stache shape. So in that sense, the haslabs face is technically more accurate.

If you spend your time looking at the back of figures then god bless your little heart... There is just no way around the zeta planet mode... its fugly... its just pure trash. that being said... I'm still getting this for legends scale....

You better pray for a KO upscale because with this set to come out december / January... the molds are already made .... they arent going to spend all that money on making molds again to enlarge it.

Haslab got Unicron's head pretty spot on.... ..

i dont believe that the molds are complete. i am also not so sure this will hit in decmber. if they were they would not be saying that changes will be made to the bot.

it does look like he has the injection ports all over his hands. but these could also be from a commercial resin printer. who really knows at this point unless zeta says this is the final bot.

I hope you're right about the dies not being done yet. It would be a great opportunity for Zeta to make some adjustments that would make a great figure even better. Transform Element gave their TE-01 an updated head sculpt, so I dare think there's hope in this case too.

    I love it !!
Finally, a Unicron that looks good in both modes !!
At that price, I can get one for each mode !!

Also, glad they didn't decide to go as big as TT did or the cost of shipping that thing overseas would be horrible !!

...and space to display as well !!

planet still looks off, but glad there is a better mouth piece. I'm just hoping his transformation isn't fiddly AF cause I'll be buying zeta's purely to mess with.

well it kind of sucks that the bot mold is already done. i was hoping for some final tweaks and maybe a bump in size. but 3 bots doesnt seem like a commecial 3d printer run.

So there's a parts-forming mouth piece, that can be used as a decorative base for the stand, interesting. Would be kinda cool if the cone base was clear plastic to look like the Unicron energy suction effect.

Well since it's all grey at the moment we don't know that the cone piece won't be transparent yellow and designed to fit over the maw... However... then I suppose there wouldn't be something for the planet to rest on...

Strange though that the maw is parts-forming. I seem to recalling reading something where Zeta stated explicitly that there would be zero parts-forming.
