I can easily see Hasbro saying "close enough!" if they ended up with 7900, and while there will be some internet bickering about never trusting lying Hasbro again blah blah blah all will be forgiven once everyone gets their Unicrons. For them to throw in the towel at that point is just unlikely, since I think the backlash from this project failing will be viewed as a greater and unacceptable loss by Hasbro's shareholders, not to mention how their partner Takara might feel about all of this, so even if it's not quite 8000 there is very likely some pressure to get this done.

However, it's got to be that close. If it's only say 6998 backers, I think they have to give up on Unicron. Wild speculation aside, the first extension is excusable as it was seen as Hasbro addressing the criticisms about the announcement and timing of the project, which plenty of people should attest to given a lot of the earlier posts in this thread complaining that a month and a half til the end of August wasn't to be enough time to get $600 together. But after that I really don't think there's going to be a second extension, or how they could possibly spin doing another without looking desperate. It's got to succeed this time or HasLab's got to move on.

Extending the deadline sure is working out well, isn’t it? They’ve picked up at least two more backers since they added the extra month. They would have been better off sticking to the deadline and letting the last minute flood hit.

After seeing the Zeta version, I suspect this may not reach 8,000 after all.

She actually has the larger collection too, as well as a fair amount of Godzilla figures. Mine is actually rather small and focused on specific characters - you can see some of mine in the link in my signature.

She wasn’t going to back it, but seeing it up close and personal at SDCC changed her mind. He’s impressive to be sure. I was thinking about backing a second one for her birthday, so she could display it in both modes, we’ll see.

Nice displays you got there. Honestly, it's less about the size of a collection and more about the reasoning behind it that I find kinda nifty. Any schmoe can go hauling out after all the figures (guilty), but specifically curated collections are pretty interesting to me. Takes more discipline and a slightly more unique mindset.

That said, I'm fully expecting Space Godzilla vs. Unicron photos when/if this comes in.

Found out the issue, it was on my end. My connection kept timing out, so they couldn't verify my payment whenever I tried putting it in. But the order's been placed and I'm all in for this! Now, all I gotta do is wait...

Well, we won't really know until the next deadline, will we? Again, what's the overall benefit or harm? If we don't get this, then... welp, that's an extra $600 I get to spend on something else and Hasbro collects valuable data for their next potential project, with the only "losses" being the wages and materials spent on the protos and the marketing which is probably a lot less than what they would have lost blindly making this giant thing that wouldn't turn a profit.

As for the Zeta version... eh. Yes it's cleaner, and probably cheaper, and will likely have LCDs. It's also 18" - smaller than a CHUG titan. It's got puny wings, kind of an uninspired look and Zeta's got a spotty track record just as bad as HasTak. There's probably a few people ditching this for Zeta's version... but as someone that generally collects both 3P and official to an almost embarrassing degree, Zeta's offering probably isn't going to draw out many that are willing to plunk down on a $600 figure. If anything, Zeta's is probably only around $200 and me and my contemporaries will end up getting it too provided it doesn't suck balls.

So Lego just announced a $700 Star Destroyer releasing October 1st.
I wonder what impact, if any, that may have to Unicrons chances?

Well, my wife is a big third party person, 3P makes up a majority of her collection, and she wasn’t impressed by what she has seen of the zeta version so far, so I don’t know how true that is. She’s still backing Unicron.

Zeta looks pretty decent minus the size, I may consider it as a snack for Hasbro's Unicron to nibble on.

Can someone please photoshop the colours of the 2010 Unicron on the left onto the Haslab Unicron?

Damn, hasbro's unicron is huge in comparison. I also noticed that zeta has symmetrical detail work on it, kinda boring, but I get it, cost savings and all.

Weird, but Hasbro's leg is the size of zeta's upper body.

Did you cut off the Haslab Unicron’s horn to match the original wooden G1 prototype? :p
