I think I'll wait for the MP-58 version of Optimus Prime.

While it sucks that people are having this issue, and it seems like almost everyone will eventually have this issue, it's great that the fix is so easy to do. No pin pushing, you don't have to inexplicably take off his left arm to get to his knee or something, and as long as you use the right size screwdriver and are careful it should work without damaging him further.

That said, the increasing consistency of MP figures having design issues that cause breakages and paint that chips off after a few normal transformations is becoming a big problem.

This is bad when an expensive toy breaks so easy.

Mine arrived from Anime Export. Everything seems fine, but the outer box and inner shell were both opened and then double-taped shut. Why would they do that?

Both knees are functional. No torso wobble.

One of the knees on my MP-44 was broken out of the box, so scratch that second paragraph. ;)

Returning MP-44 to Amazon Japan this weekend and I should receive a replacement around the 12th of September, which hopefully isn't broken out of the box...

We don't know that for sure quite yet. Jarrod, Brutiking and others are still working on their opened copies and trying to figure out what's causing the breakages.

Is it wrong to say I actually enjoyed the transformation, wow, this thing is so beautiful in hand he makes me almost forget he set me back £300, haha. I don't seem to have any blemishes whatsoever, no dodgy knees, no chipping of paint, his antennas are just ever so slightly bent but not enough to bother me! Wow, this guy is stunning. Much to my surprise I love the rifle, when I saw it was fold-able like MP-10's I was worried as I despised that rifle, its flimsiness and all but this time round they handled it very cleverly.

The transformation is definitely way more complex than I feel it should be considering what he transforms into but it's no where near the mount Everest of transformations people were/are making out to be particularly considering a lot of the complaints are coming from those who own MP-36 Megatron or FT RoadKing.

More later....but in closing....would I recommend it, if you got some spare loose change around and I mean a lot, hahaha and you love the Sunbow G1 look and/or Optimus Prime, then, fuck yeah. If not, wait for the KO. His looks are amazing, the backpack in hand is not the eyesore as depicted in most pics. I do still feel he's overpriced and we're being hosed but how beautiful in hand he is and the way the sculpt does the character justice beyond belief it kind of softens the blow of the gut punch to your wallet.

Now to set aside £2000 for MP Rodimus Prime and Galvatron!

    :lol

I'm going to return mine to Amazon Japan from The Netherlands this weekend using DHL. Curious what it'll cost me. And curious how fast Amazon Japan is with paying me back the shipping costs.

It's a shitter, no doubt about it but it's clearly not every figure.

I think I used all my bad luck in MMC cell Sphynx. Man that was an utter turd out of the box.

For the price alone, this is unacceptable. But this is also Takara. An official, global, professional corporation. This isn\'t a 3P startup that\'s only put out a handful of products into the market. This is a company that\'s been around the block a while; that I would guess has some sort of R&D division; that\'s well versed on QC and how to test it\'s products not only to meet consumer expectations but a whole host of international product regulations; that likely has layers of accountability. You\'re telling me no one caught this? If so, I think management needs to take a walk down to the design wing, because this is embarrassing.

Best hope is that they are flooding Takara CS for a definitive answer. There are a couple of one-star reviews but complaints to them and from retailers to them is the kind of thing to get more than a "fix the reissue/repaint" scenario

Finally got around to transforming mine.

Outside the usual troubles people have run into (untabbing/splitting apart the front wheels/waist section, and hooking in the final ab crunch joint) the process was fairly smooth. A few joints that are probably tighter than they should be, but none that were too loose. That is an improvement over my MP36 Megatron at least. My knees are ratcheting fine and knowing about the issues it probably isn't something I would run into anyway as I don't pose them a lot.

Upper body fit is a little messy but I'm likely to leave the jetpack on as it looks awesome and cleans things up a bit.

What I think happened is that Takara or the factory's final qc check(if there even is one, I imagine you save money by not having one) was done on an unpainted copy. An unpainted copy will have looser tolerances then a fully painted copy. I'm not even sure what's causing the knee stopper to not slide into place the way it's supposed to, but I have a feeling it may have to do with unforeseen higher joint tolerances due to the paint. I could be wrong. I mentioned this in the fix thread as well.

I'm hoping this isn't the norm going forward(some issue that comes up with progressively more expensive MP releases that gets addressed the hard way through trial and error with some of the first adopters having a breakage).

If any of you who get yours soon have a breakage, post some details as that will help us get closer to figuring out a way to fix it.

Was the pin in the box or separate? I've definitely not got mine, so either it didn't get put in the main box at takara, or it wasn't added at some point to the delivery. I'd like to know where the problem was. I've emailed Tfs-express and hopefully they'll sort me out. I'm more concerned about the coin/pin than the t-shirt (cool to have even if it's unlikely to fit me!), as it's part of the item itself. It's like not having the axe or spare heads...

Interesting. I have 2 s.h.figuarts stuck in preparation in progress since August 27th. I've ordered a ton of stuff and it's never been in that status this long. Seeing as there's a few people right here mentioning a similar delay, there must be some kind of general hick up. I emailed them early this morning we'll see if they answer

HEY, watch your mouth! You don't say that kind of thing here! I have KOs with better QC ;P

For the asking price, these figures ought to be made in Japan.

Thankfully not every MP-44, but I've seen at least one other person on this forum who reported his was broken out of the box. I'm hoping that my replacement copy will be fine. Fingers crossed. And if it's faulty too, then I'll return it too and I'll wait for the re-release...

So it's Tfs-express who ballsed up. That's actually a good thing. They can just post to me without going back to Takara
