$35 Deluxes & $60 Voyagers are fairly standard pricing for Takara imports

Personally I'm glad we're not dealing with another UW Grand Scourge level of exclusive. IIRC he was $90 for a redeco of a voyager.

The Seacons all come with 3x the accessories of regular releases. One or two guns, melee weapons, an extra gun that doubles as a tail (for most of them), plus the hand (or two feet for Snaptrap).
Remember, Grimlock and Hun-gurr didn't even have any weapons, just their combiner feet. And each Terrorcon and Dinobot only had one weapon (or two small guns for one of the Terrorcons).
The amount of extra accessories here is a little bit more than even the Takara version of the Titans Returns deluxes that came with the targetmaster partners.

When I got the Takara version of Titans return Octane, Blitzwing, and Astrotrain I payed $50 apiece for them. That was twice the Hasbro price for the exact same figures with better paint apps.

Snaptrap is $60 for a very heavy remold.
It’s probably a better deal than the other figures from an objective standpoint.

Plus don't forget that the "legends" versions of TR deluxe toys were $40

Interesting that if you go strictly by the official combination we're getting the torso, both arms, and 1 leg in the 1st 2 waves. Why not both legs? Except for the torso being a big reveal of the combiner coming I would normally think they'd go for a "limbs 1st, body last" approach.

But whatever. So long as they are getting released I'm happy!

I think launching with the torso first is smart in this case. If you consider some of the concessions they made in the limb figures, leading with Snaptrap first puts their best foot forward. If you don't like him...you're not likely to buy in to Piranacon *period.*

So his preorders probably help Takara/Hasbro get a feel for how well this is going to do overall, and they can better project how the remaining 4 figures will sell as they're planning budget/sales for 2020.

It’s been posted in the Seacons thread and the Hasbro Pulse thread.

Also they’re Seacons, not Piranacons. Piranacon is the US name for the combined form. (Though Hasbro almost used that name for the team back in Energon when they were going to be a Walmart exclusive)

Definitely agree. Plus we 'knew' about turtler (or HEAVILY suspected him) waaaaay back in potp when Hunn-Gurr's gray prototype had the wrong head covered up!

Yup. People were anticipating this guy for a while, so at this point it'd be safe to assume it's an all or nothing purchase. I can't picture there being many people who'd cherry pick Seacons and leave Snaptrap out.

My guess as to why they're spacing it out:

    1. Motivate buyers who may balk at the one-time cost as opposed to being able to budget out three waves of smaller purchases.

    2. Give Takara an opportunity to space out Selects releases in general while they work on the next thing.

    3. As I said earlier, leading with Snaptrap gives them a view into just how well these are going to do. None of these will sell better than Snaptrap, so that's the ceiling, and from there you'll have a measure as to how many of the rest you need to make.

I also think this is testing the water for Liokaiser. I could easily see them leading with Leozack and Jarugar to pull in the people who already own the CW version, which again will make those two the best sellers of the team. And once you've got them hooked with two...there's a chance you can reel them in for four more.

theres also the questionable qc of the big powered set to consider, spacing out the releases allows them more time to focus on each figure

That's true, but they could have also sat back on the whole team to ensure they were ready and then rolled the whole thing out at once (presumably in March where now we'll see Tentakill and Overbite).

So I'm guessing they're doing piecemeal preorders so they can get us locked down *now* while the hype of seeing the completed prototype is still there, but spacing out the releases so we're not taking preorders in August/September for a team we won't be getting until March.

Preorders 6 months in advance give them plenty of time to gauge how many to produce/ fix any qc issues that show up.

I was so excited to see the TFW2005 tweet about the next two being available first thing this morning that I preordered them from the toilet, guaranteeing that as the most productive part of my day.

Sadly my wife and I went over the budget for the next few months and the Seacons did not fit. :(

That is sad, but good job being a responsible adult. I recently had to reel in my spending and implement a set Transformers budget as well.
