The only explanation I can think of is that TT somehow overthink (if there is such a word) when they were designing the figure.

Sorry but I have to disagree that this figure is “worth it”.

Other than MP-44, i bought the SOC Golion (Voltron) and both the metal composite RX-78-02 Gundam and Char Zaku (both still cheaper than MP-44) and I don’t see the “chips” and “scratches” like I do on MP-44.

Example, looking at the pictures of your figure, the paint job is good (you were lucky?) but other than that, I see the cut marks on the top of Optimus’ left chest, scratches on the side of the chest etc.

Do I like this Optimus figure? Of course I do but no way is he worth the price, TT is asking for. He should have been $250 at the most.

Mine just changed to "with delivery courier" a few minutes ago! So I didn't end up needing to call.

Someone asked why some of us who have the knee problems won’t just send it back—why we’d elect to try to repair it. And it’s a fair question.

    Here’s my answer:

What difference would that make? Seems like a lot of people are having the problem, so, there’s a good chance my replacement will have it, too. The only difference is that the replacement might also not look as aesthetically perfect as the one I have now—paint, molding, chrome, accessories, all perfect.

Additionally, I just hate the idea of having to pay and wait to have it shipped back to Japan(yeah I know I’d get refunded... eventually).

Look—I agree that Takara gets the message more clearly if we send the broken ones back. And I’m -this- close to doing that. But if I can just fix it myself, and then continue enjoying it, why not?

    It’s OK to disagree.

For example, I disagree that SOC’s Voltron is worth the price I paid.

It is literally a block former that can’t pose much and whose engineering hasn’t changed in 100 years. It’s is still the same toy we got back in the day.

Much prettier? Yup. That’s about it.

For me, from what I’m seeing, MP-44 is a better value when it comes to it.

    So agree to disagree.

I would love to try out the stand feature but I can't figure out how to do it. Just curious, can you tell me how to remove the cockpit portion? I pulled out the blue section from the back, but I can't figure out how to unlock the piece from the connecting joint, even looking at the pictures. I feel kind of dumb, and I can't find any reviews where they show it because they are also having issues with it. LOL

    Thank you for the help.

Sure, i’m a believer in that. That’s why I mention the metal composite RX and Char Zaku too - both with articulation and various extras and gimmicks.

With regards to Voltron, I paid only USD$273 and the workmanship is incredible...and I disagree that he is a brick. X)

I’m not just comparing just for the sake of price but also the workmanship involved. Like a fellow poster mentioned, if this was a Hot Toys or SOC figure the complaints would be worse.

I was thinking about doing the same, except Future makes everything super shiny. From everyone’s pics, the yellow parts appear matte. I don’t have mine in hand yet to see and verify. It’s delivered, just a matter of getting home.

Thanks for the kind words mate! Definitely remember you from SSF. That forum's not quite what it used to be, but I still hang out there too.

Glad you still enjoy my thoughts. I'll be doing my bot mode review and comparison tomorrow so stay tuned :D

Mine was just delivered at some point in the past couple of hours. It was supposed to be signature required. I was not keen on letting DHL leave a $327 item on the front step.

    They did it anyway.

Fortunately porch pirates did not strike today. Now if only I didn't have to go to work soon.

Even if you are a fanboy/girl "nothing wrong with that!" with bot's like MP-44 it's hard not to be a fanboy/girl. I had left the MP line back in 2015. But thanks to MP-44, upcoming MP-45, MP-47, the addition of the + bots, etc. I'm back! and now is a great time to come back and be... a fanboy/girl. Great pics BTW.

Ps. I EFF'ing love my MP-44 Prime!  and don't regret spending 450 on him at all.

There’s a flap on the back of the stand, pull it down to unlock the gun pod. Then, just pull the gun pod off.

... since you mention fix figuration grandpa . The core fighter will have paint dmg if you use it like in the anime , transformed and used as a cockpit I believe they mentioned it in the instructions . Now apply that to optimus where everything transforms . As long as there’s friction involved it’s pretty unavoidable no matter the workmanship . As for the bad sprue/cut marks, just imo Takara doesn’t really serve the same market as Bandai especially for gundam market where that would be scrutinised to hell , so it’s not part of their concern . Though it really should -.-
