Really nicely done! I tried the same thing but ended up screwing up, the ensuing Dettol disaster, toothpick gunk removal, repaint, lacquer,model putty, further repaint, then finally managed to salvage the head (sort of!). As long as you don't look too closely, he looks good enough in hand but I learnt some hard lessons along the way!

 

Remove these two screws and pull apart. Simple switch.

 

Even more reason we need some aftermarket torpedoes for this guy made up. (or maybe some tri-barrel guns like the G1 toy had). He was MUCH more heavily armed in his original G1 toy incarnation. Combaticons should have some serious weaponry. I don't see this guy hunting down nuclear submarines as currently armed. (which is his alt-mode's primary role)

 

As you say, the G1 toy was more heavily armed. Your ideas are good for that version of this set if it ever comes to fruition. Of course, anything extra to any version is good  

 

Just received and transformed Impetus... and wow really amazing job on the engineering MMC. Well played. The transformation was exquisite. Not to mention the all-built-in concept of the hand inside the cockpit of the bot. Nice. Solid joints (mostly friction, ratcheted elbow for combined mode in the middle) everywhere, good articulation, really solid feel, MP scale in bot and alt mode. Much, much bigger than I thought he would be after seeing pics and video reviews. Scale-Nazis don't worry. Super pleased with this bot. Coloration and accessories are on target as well.

I really, really hope the remainder of the team is of this same level of engineering, design, G1 look, and articulation. If so... this will be the #1 NOT-Bruticus NOT-Combaticons team on the scene.

 

Sorry if this question has been asked already - Is MMC planning to release toy color versions of each character? I am looking at Vortex and Blastoff in particular.

A major +1 to everything you said. I haven’t been this excited about a TF offering in a long time, and if the rest of the team is anywhere near as good as Impetus, this will easily end up being my favorite group in my collection.

 

How about MP-11 Seeker weapons? Come to find out the ports are compatible. Sorry no torpedoes or barrel guns.

Not telling anyone else how they should feel about that, but I don't hate it.

Anyway, my copy of Impetus arrived Friday, along with a ton of other stuff. Thankfully it didn't rain, because I didn't actually get back to the States until Saturday (figures that TFSource's free shipping always takes at least a week, but when I say to ship my stack on Wednesday when I'm coming home Saturday on a holiday weekend to boot suddenly it's two days).

It took me until tonight to mess with him. I'll post more later, but I recall people asking for comparison shots, especially of arm mode. So I took one, and I tried to line up their combiner ports to get a clearer picture of their sizes. And sure, Zeta's is still the biggest, but from combiner port to wrist Impetus is very close to Unique Toys' Vortex. Impetus just looks smaller because he has the smallest hand. @TigerBlade, I think if you're happy with Zeta's body and legs using UT's arms then size shouldn't be a problem if you want to replace UT's with MMC's. The connection itself might be, though, since the articulation in the shoulder joints on Zeta and UT are both in Vortex and Blast Off, but it looks like all the joints will be on Onslaught for MMC.

The length of the arm isn't everything. Very long arms on a shorter overall figure will tend to look ape-like. Meanwhile the mass or circumference is what gives bulk to them. The tiny hands may be a better indicator of what to expect in how it will compare, but until we get the core bot it's all truly guesswork.

No, it's true, Zeta did the wrong alt mode and a too-chunky botmode and has the least-good colors. Bruticon is a bit better with the coloration but same story on the botmode chunk and alt mode design.

 

Let me guess. One of them have 6 rotar blades, the other two only have 4?
