I'm reliving my childhood right now watching one of my old favorite movies, The Love Bug, that happens to be on. Way before Transformers existed, I loved VW Beetles because of that movie. I would so enjoy having a Herbie redeco of MP-45.  

 

I originally trashed this one and preferred the original, but after seeing the transformation video I like this one more. I still like the original for what it is — an actual VW bug that turns into a robot, and it certainly is more in the spirit of the original transformers. But I do like cartoon accurate figures. because they are different toys that both successfully accomplish different things I have room for both in my collection.

 

I just wanna buy them in a bunch of different colours, get a suit case, and show them off.

 

I don't know what you mean, I don't at all relate to this love of sentient VW Beetles nor am I similarly beholden to Herbie for this life long obsession that I definitely don't have...

Mp 21 is the color of cheese wiz. . In hand it's not that bad but next to all those other Bees, Yikes.

 

Imagine TT pulling something like that today.

"MP Jazz is happening, but he'll have the G2 deco and his missile launcher is purple and gray"

 

Is the alt Chibi car mode of BB going to be officially licensed by VW or are we moving into full cartoon alt mode freedom?

I don’t think they’ll give up licenses. Unless it’s a gun, or a plane, or a truck.

 

This is the right direction for the minicons.  I used to think differently until seeing the realistic VW next to the \"Bumblebee\" VW.

On screen, all of the minicons were short and scrunched up in their veh modes, looking closer to their toy counterparts.  I wouldnt be surprised if CliffJ is next (theres a screen shot with him next to Hound out there thats a perfect example)  Sure, it would be nice to see Cliff in his realistic Porche form, however, his onscreen veh mode looks NOTHING like the actual vehicle.  The larger bots DO look like their real world counterparts, albeit sometimes poorly drawn.

Additionally, some minicons would be too large per their vehicle modes being large.  This wouldnt affect BB, CJ or Beachcomber, however 3P companies have shown us what it does to characters like Windcharger, Brawn, and Warpath.  With the exception of WindC veh mode being way too small, the 3P minicons look great.  For those who NEED to have realistic veh modes, current 3P minicons may be your best bet, especially from BadCube and Xtransbots.  Bright side is theyre available now and not years down the road!

In the case of the minicons, its the same thing as Grapple/Inferno, and the seekers.  Yes theres a real world version out there worthy of the MP title.  HOWEVER they shine best adhering to their on screen astectics.  Big puffy tires and short from end to end, but still large enough to scale with the rest of the crew and human characters.
 

 

Precisely. And Cliff makes the most sense as the next minibot as Bee's mold already exists and his episode 1 partner is about to release.

 

Although I would dearly love a Cliffjumper (and Jazz...) next, I doubt there are many Bumblebee parts that could be reused. The legs and shoulders and that's probably about it.

I can't wait for Bumblebee, though - and with the arrival moments of MP-44, Bumblebee is now next in line. Bring it on!

True, but the engineering is done. Not as much work to lightly retool some parts and scratch some others than to engineer a brand new fig from scratch.

 

That's not exactly how MPs work. I wouldn't expect a Cliffjumper to have the exact same transformation scheme as Bumblebee, or the same lay-out of alt-mode parts between modes. The proportions of the chibi Porsche are probably not an exact match for the chibi Beetle either.

 

G1 Bee and Cliff were the same toy with different shells. I can't imagine TT wouldn't take advantage of two figures with such similar engineering. Unless the cartoon models in bot mode were sufficiently different.

 

It's more about the transformation. Where would the spoiler go?
