That's the future of MP and while the left hand Prime there looks good to me none of them are what I want. Now that's going to be expanded to every MP figure now so more re-dos of figures we already have (more to buy!) and none of them look any good to me (not a toon guy).

So, yeah. Acting like there are LOADS or any options going forth and no one has any reason to bitch is a lie.

 

Did you not see the faces Dr Wu made for MP-21? Brrr, somehow he made them even worse than the original, which was quite a feat. MP-45’s face looks great on some photos and terrible in others; I’m just hoping it looks good in hand. Bitter experience has told me not to hope for decent 3P replacements.

Yeah, the backpack is pretty bad and the back of the feet aren’t great, but we’ve known that for six months now, and you can see he’s so tiny in the designer video that I doubt they’ll be as bad in hand. I love the chibi alt mode, the articulation, better yellow, better proportions and cartoon accuracy. There’s so much hate for this figure, but I remain more enthusiastic for this than for MP-44. To me he looks absolutely fantastic alongside Ironhide in that review video.

 

Good point. I also think 21 may have a decent realistic car mode, but having massive shoes makes him fit in a crowd of Mettaurs.

 

If they can make a Masterpiece that transforms into a robot dinosaur...

 

And yet, none of the 3P Cliffjumpers have exactly been definitive. I haven't heard anyone really saying any of the available ones truly blew their minds.

For my money, the best unofficial MP is still MMC Sphinx (which is why it sucks that a number of succeeding Ocular Max releases very much dropped the ball)

 

Buddy, how "mistransformed" are we talking? Show me a photo of the "Correctly transformed" backpack. This is just disgusting to look at honestly. Especially with that $100 price tag on it.

 

Its wierd how the whole aesthetic has changed over the years. Like the whole vision of the MP line changed from a modern and realistic take on G1 designs with both obvious design queues from the cartoon as well as real intricate details that the cartoon would never have had, to slavishly accurate G1 designs down to even accessories to fit with animation errors. I wonder if it was a leadership change or what, but its interesting. I think that some characters like Bee unfortunately were just not designed to work in a real life toy or object without hyper physics and mass displacement.

 

I second this. The MP-21 3rd party faces in theory should have looked good as the originals in photos looked derpy but they look bug eyed at best with the alternate faces.

It's the way light kinda washes out the original face (MP-21) details hence all the complaints. It's probably the same with M_-45. I wonder if it was painted aluminum silver. Maybe it would improve how the details are reflected?

 

This is a great and elegant way to summarize my exact feelings, a lot better that my poor English would have let me.
I went crazy when years ago I saw MP1 for the first time, now you would say it's bulky and "inaccurate", maybe like with cars, taste evolve with years. I think they deliver two great pieces of engineering with MP44 and 45, maybe they should have rebooted the series with BB and call it MPT (toon), or maybe they use their customer base to charge 100+ for something that probably you should pay 50, nevertheless TF are a thing for us kids of the 80's, not for my two years old son. He will buy Baby Shark Masterpiece.

 

That face is much too derpy for me. And that's coming from a fan of PotP Wincharger.

Excited for those who wanted this. The completionist in me wants this. There is a lot to love, but the head sculpt just looks odd to me. Odd is generous, it looks goofy/cheesy as hell to me. Those are just my sensibilities though. I know for the G1 fam who grew up on this must be going bonkers, so again genuinely happy for y\'all, just hope 3P makes a sculpt I could slap on an otherwise neat little entry into the MP line.

 

Yep, going bonkers. And I totally understand, it took me a few days to warm up to the head back in February.

 

Whelp. Now I know how I'm going to be displaying these two together.

 

I'm on an MP freeze for a bit anyway, but it's frustrating because I wanted to love it. I don't even see why people are griping about the feet. It's just the bloody head, specifically the chin. It irks my soul.
