There's been this threat for years and suddenly it ramps up when the most expensive MP gets released. It's almost like retailers are trying to scare collectors.

And if it doesn't happen there'll be reissues. Hasbro will want a chance to release to the West too. There's gonna be plenty of chances, no need to rush, at least all the issues will be known by that point......

Exactly! I personally would like to own every interpretations of Prime if I could as I just love the character. But I can't so I chose TE-01 and I still think he is awesome. I wasn't supposed to but I managed to buy MP-44. MP-44 will probably be my favourite because lots of work was achieved so I could afford him and also because he is the official. From what I have seen so far, he is also the best OP in my eyes. But I still love TE-01 and I will gladly pose him next to MP-44.

I am afraid of that yes, but who knows how this story will end...

 

Seriously though, if TE-01 had the paint apps of MS-01...

If it did there'd be one less sale here. Te01 is near perfection in the colour stakes.

 

IDK the more I think about it, the more I kinda like this type of realism and anime working together, and TE01 seems to really fit in well, given how these look in this pic.

 

And no one in that thread has any proof either. Might as well keep the rumors there until something actually happens. No reason to chicken little up every thread about it.

 

I really think the evil geniuses at Takara have something going on here. So they release a figure in this case MP-44 V 3.0 with a pretty hefty pricetag and since most of us are adult collectors here and have a pretty good source of income AND disposable income for this matter, some, if not most of us will still choose to purchase this figure because it is "Optimus Prime" AND because it has a high price tag that we can afford. Apple really set the new standards and marketing strategies huh and a lot of companies followed their firey footsteps. Good job Takara and too bad for our wallets. But I decided my OP to be TE-01. End of story. So what's new?

 

Theres a big chance that TE will be releasing a painted Optimus. If I owned TE company, I certainly would give the green light. Its another marketing strategy.

 

"Parts forms the trailer hitch" literally the DUMBEST thing to complain about. It's an adapter anyway because the back of the truck doesn't look like crap with legs hanging off like most the other choices.

Went and did some research on the weight of all three, between an image of MP-44 posted on FB, and image stills from Sun of the Empire's comparison review on YT, here are the differences.

MS-01 = 350g
MP-44 = 417g
TE-01 (V1) = 564g

 

100% FUD. There will ALWAYS be KOs.

 

MS Prime is very good, but it’s not based off the G1 animation cell. There are no what ifs, the source material is concrete. In the end buy what you like. For me I go for accuracy down to the aesthetics. TE and TTs Prime get it the closest. No they are not perfect by any means, but when comparing apples to apples, keep it apples to apples.

I really like my TE-01 as it is and actually think it looks better than MP-44 based on pics. I also have MS-01X, and enjoy it overall- especially the paint- but it doesn't make the cut for my main display for various reasons. That said, I'd be interested in how a repainted version (similar to MS-01X) of TE-01 might look- I wouldn't mind some red and blue paint, maybe even metallics, along with silver thighs for example. Though I don't hate the more toon look, I still prefer more of a blend of toy and toon and I am ok with silver paint instead of the white/gray they substituted for it in the toon...
