The second episode has this scene where they have a shot of the moon flying towards the Earth, and in an amazing coincidence, the score in the background seems to have this choir rendition of the musical cue from Beast Wars whenever something was about to go down. You'll hear it when you find it, its 2 minutes in.

If you have a VPN, and set it to US, it should work.

I found the episode to be fun. A nice start to the show, but admittedly, the pacing was too fast for me, which meant some moments didn’t settle in for me as long as it should have. The animation is still great.

Also worth mentioning that episode 1 and 2 is actually episode 1, but it’s split into two, making one 10 minute episode into two 5 minute episodes.

The episodes were alright, if shallow and rather rushed. I do rather like the idea of the TF's war being common knowledge, but the "robot fails" compilation was a bit much for me. Likewise, the dialogue was quite lacking. Most of the lines lacked character and gravitas, like they were just thrown out to have someone say something. I understand that a show like this isn't going to have Shakespeare level writing, but what we have here is just the barest minimum. That said, the animation was expressive enough and the fights were a bit more engaging than those of the first season. Hopefully, things keep improving as the season goes along.

Were Cheetor, Sky-Byte, or the rumored Primal in the first 2 episodes? That’s when I want to jump in... don’t want to blow 20 minutes on characters I don’t care about. I’m still traumatized from RID15 and haven’t even watched this show, yet

    Cheetor
briefly shows up the end of the second episode, but doesn't talk or transform until episode 5. After that though, he basically becomes a main character and does a lot.

    Sky-Byte
probably shows up in episode 11 but it hasn't aired or leaked yet.

...so i just re-watched the first season this afternoon before watching this new episode, and - yowza, this feels like a completely different show!..

...i get that they set up season one to transition between the aligned and G1 milieu as a general status quo from which to tell stories, but the in media res they just served up for the second-season premiere hammered its G1 tropes sooo in-your-face hard that, well, i came away feeling like i'd just watched something i haven't seen since the spring of 1986...

...i hope (and believe) that the hyper-attenuated lack of plot and characterisation were merely to make a point, a briefly-truncated ten-minute BANG! of "here's who we are now, here's what this franchise is going to be about" which will be followed-up with much more thoroughly-developed stories told on the new stage they've set...

    ...everything old is new again!..

As someone that already saw the first 7 episodes, worry not, that is exactly what happens next. First episode is just a general "here is transformers in a nutshell, welcome to the new status quo" episode full of g1-ish moments. Right afterwards, the true new story of the season begins, and new characters start showing up already on episode 4 and so on.

Is it still cheese ball aimed at 5yo, or has it matured a bit with more competent storytelling?

...first season actually matured about eight episodes in; this new episode is just a big colorforms set but the new season as a whole looks poised to tell engaging stories as well...

...honestly, if you can make it through the first half-dozen episodes to find its footing, the series improves significantly thereafter: but i mean full ten-minute episodes, an hour of your time, not the little five-minute half-episodes posted on the cartoon network...

...if you only watch the first thirty minutes, you'll come away underwhelmed; direction starts off very weak but the production team improves with experience...

It's still aimed at 5 year olds, as has been every single cartoon in the franchise in the last 35 years. If it's competent or not is up to your own biases.

Spectrum has the first 4 episodes on Demand. They were better, although the Hyper-energon was a bit silly.

Double check that. Spectrum has the first six here. 1-4 are labeled as Episodes 1-4. Episode 5 just labeled as Trials and Episode 6 is whatever title that has.

There is also a cue in episode 2, when Megatron has....cast off some ballast to lighten the load of the Nemesis, that references a cue from Unicron’s Medley.

Think I’ll have to finish episodes 1-6 on demand before the hurricane blows in.
