Yep. That’s where I ended up going. Given currency conversion rates the price is actually really good and EB Games offer Click N Collect so I can pick it up direct from the store up the road and avoid insane shipping costs.
You can also get it from Zing stores if there’s one of those near you (they’re just an EB Games subsidiary so cost and process is identical.)
I investigated freight forwarders and the like and most wouldn’t even quote on the estimated size of this package saying it was too big. It would have cost several hundred extra to ship.
    This? A lot more reasonable.

...given their original history as metroplex accessories, i have little doubt that iron factory will grace us with heralds, lithones, and possibly even miniature shuttles and starships: quintessons, sharkticons, junkions, and the like are sure to follow...

...as for add-on kits like alternate faceplates, chomping doors, smelting vats, and sci-fi CRT arrays, those fall into the domain of perfect effect, DNA designs, and C+ customs, and are likely to some limited extent...dr. wu or nonef may also grace us with compatible blast-effect packs, if they can get the transparent plastics manufactured at a reasonable price point...

...meanwhile, i'm confident that reprolabels will put together an extensive sticker set, but i'm not sure how i feel about adorning unicron with self-adhesive labels: ocean designs waterslides feel like a more-appropriate choice, but their offerings are often scarce for such limited-run figures...

Awesome Stargander. Thanks. EBGames is convenient for me too and I'm not too worried about the overall price of the item itself espcially considering I just forked out nearly $600 AUD delivered for MP44... But now the real quest begins -- to see if I can actually fit it in the budget before the crowdfund closes as I need to move house first week of November and it'll be a costly move. Bad timing for me for a potential Unicron.

I said it before, and it's not movie accurate, but a "big ass sword".

I think he needs better hands and better kibble management, otherwise a very good figure I particularly like the details, a figure of his size needs them and also they make him look even bigger.

With the crowdfund extended to October, hopefully EB games will fix up their site soon to reflect that. It’s still listing Aug 31st as the deadline. I’m gonna be pissed if they automatically debit my Credit Card this weekend and then have to reverse it till october and then debit again.
But EB Games are definitely the best way to get this for aussies. I got the Fallout 76 special edition from them with the Power Armor helmet and they delivered it quickly and safely and it was very well packaged. They’re a good option.

I'm looking at the 3p Predaking swords for this exact purpose. A giant cannon could be fine too, if only DNA really made that humongous rifle for Fortress Maximus...
Other than that, I might buy better articulated hands and more minifigures to recreate scenes from the movie, but they had to be very easy to install because I don't want to risk damaging even in the slightest an ultra expensive figure.

I was going to say "a big spray-can of orange paint" but you already pretty much covered it.

I would imagine they will sort their dates out soon. My old housemate used to buy all the special edition games from them and never had an issue either. I've got some maths to do!

    Aftermarket kits I would buy...
    • Hands with improved articulation. Do not change the design. Just add more joints.
      • Either universal joint or ball joint knuckles. So the fingers can splay out
      • Articulated thumb... not just a swivel. So the thumb can actually grip or swing out for a wide opened palm.
    • Replacement "equator" strips
      • plastic... NOT bendy rubber. I HATE rubber parts... I know they do it for child saftey/breakage... But I hate it.
      • collapsible segments that can tuck away better instead of just hanging off the sides. I already have a design, I just need measurements.
    • LED kit to replace the eyes... the pivoting eye gimmick doesn't show through the current face plate and is pretty much pointless
    • Mini figures of movie characters.
Anything more that I would want would require permanent modifications to the original figure.
    • Pipe LEDs or fiber optics through the planet ring. One good use of all the skeletal cut outs they did for cost saving...
    • Cut out the abs and replace with a translucent red. Back it with LED's and a motorized "molten core" effect. I already have a design... Just need measurements. Might just 3D scan the torso.
    • re-paint all in metallic. All that yellow would look perfect if it were a metallic copper.
Weather or not someone comes up with any of this or not, doesn't matter. Once I have mine in hand, I am modding one of them (mod one, keep one stock). I can easily build/sculpt the parts in 3d and print them in high res. The only thing that I may have difficulty with is I have no experience with adding electrical wiring.

I have requested Haslab to make quick disconnect joints for the five sets of plates that form the kibble to be removed in bot mode. If they don't do it I definitely want a 3P to do it. This could have greatness in both modes and still retain the ability to not partsform for those that must have it.

So I wrote in the thread that Unicron is basically a shell former. If you're looking at his planet mode straight on , the top half of the sphere folds down into the back pack. It is connected to the back via a connector arm. Each side of the bottom half (left and right) split into two halves themselves (front and back) that are connected to the right/left legs by two connector arms (one for side of leg, one for back of leg). All the panels are connected to each other via a connector arm.

The only part of his robot mode integral to his transformation is part of his arms. If you were to remove his planet panels, you'd see a robot curled up in a ball. His legs are basically folded up behind his back, his head tipped over, and his arms flipped down then extended around the backside.

In theory, it would be possible for a 3P to build a skeletal framework. that holds the planet panels in place and replaces the missing arm segments, and then attaches to the base. You would then need to knock out the (speculated) 5 pins that hold the connector arms of the planet panels to the robot mode. And then you'd be able to display Unicron in a cleaner Robot mode and in planet mode simultaneously. He is basically like Big Convoy. In fact, you can even emulate his Robot modes "planet mode" ball with Big Convoy, as Big convoy's arms flip down too.

A 3P set would also need replacement rings.

So that's one option. Maybe too lavish one though.

What I WOULD like to see though regardless is:
    (1) New Hands
    (2) absolutely lavish new rings. Really, go all out for these. Make a complicated transformation scheme. Make them light up or have reflective "gems" in them. The included ones are fine, but they're very "Hasbro-y". 3P can improve immensely on these.
    (3) A better mini Galvatron, and mini-ship collection from the movie.

    (4) Blaring red LED / laser pointer thing for his planet mode mouth. Like... lights up a dark room red. Make it a near safety hazard.

    (5) Accessory planets for him to eat.

    (6) A thinner, metal stand or a similar semi-transparent stand.

Best upgrade a company could make is a kibble deletion kit that turns him into a part former but cleans up his bot mode because as it stands he is not worth $600 with all that fucking kibble

No. the add-on really needed is Better more Accurate Articulated hands. and at the size they are, they could be far more articulated to be more like human hands. I'm not sure why a company couldn't make better more accurate Unicron hands. The Screenshots are all there. Yes, I know they are a bit inconsistent in some frames, but bottom line is, make better hands. Use some of those super articulated gundam hands or hands from other types of mechs for inspiration to designs some nice big planet raking hands for Unicron worthy of his namesake.

I know in the marvel comics he had nails, but I don't want him having nails or how about making them optional add-ons like they did for Feral Rex?
