The only time I've groaned at situations like that is when I gave up on trying to score a Unite Warriors Blast Off to go with my CW Bruticus and just bought the whole damn combiner only for Hasbro to announce the Prime Wars version a week later.

(Sure, I sold my CW Bruticus to fund the UW one...but still....GODDAMNIT!)

This is assuming that the feds don’t raid the factory in the interim and shut them down, of course.

I don’t believe that the Zeta one even transforms into the sphere.

We’ll believe it when we see it.

Considering that's all a bunch of baseless rumor and confirmed false reports, I'm not too worried.

Maybe check out the zeta thread....there have been updates. BIG updates.

And YOU have fun paying $600 for an oversized shellformer. Whatever makes you happy.

Robot mode looks eh, wings are way too spindly and short, planet looks kinda terrible with the shrunken in ring it reminds me of the Armada figure.

Hey, hey. This thread's about Hasbro's Unicron. Not some knock-off.

The Hasbro Unicron looks way better, but this might be a cheaper alternative for those that don’t want to pay for (or can’t afford) the official one.

Yup but seeing as I already have an Armada Unicron (Amazon Recolor/remold) I don't see a reason to buy the Zeta unless there's more to it besides a very lackluster and off-putting planet mode.
The Robot mode chest seems very shrunken compared to the cartoon model and while the kibble is gone the planet mode suffers from looking very blocky.

I wont lie about the size of WFC Unicron being a draw. I’m not looking for a Unicron to go eye to eye with Devastator. There is something to be said for the biggest Transformer being the biggest Transformer

Can’t we just love both Unicrons? Can’t we just love Transformers that aren’t cheap knock offs made by Hasbro, as in Cyberverse. I mean. I love Seige and everything else(except cyberverse, Except Shockwave..) I mean, really you can pose Zeta Unicron snacking on Amaris Unicron, And Haslab Unicron snacking on Zeta Unicom. One of them can be Lithmo. One can be Cybertron. Use your imaginations!

It didn't stop them from doing Classics seekers a 2nd and 3rd time after the BotCon set, or for fans forgiving them for it. If they do it infrequently enough, with enough differences, nobody's going to care. Fans: "Hey, we saw you did a variant on Impactor. Does this mean we can have a variant on [latest obscure fan-favorite character with 2 canonical versions]?" Hasbro: "No. That was a special case." See how easy it is? People still DREAM of potential repaints and remolds, but they never COUNT on them!

Well I'm not the only one bothered by the colors, but while it seems like fewer people than I'd like, we can't really know how much of the fandom cares.
Words probably won't be very convincing and I'm too tired to photoshop up a comparison. The only place the orange is the correct color is where the plastic is in shadow from a light source, such as all the hollow parts in the ring. The blue-grey is also too saturated.
They don't need to do more than get the colors right, though getting right of those random extra highlights on the planet shell and his torso, and replacing them with a paint wash might be good. They could also consider making his hands and face off-white instead of silver, or at least closer to off-white.

I have a feeling that the entire brand dying is a bigger threat than just larger figures being too expensive to sell if plastic costs really become an issue. Assuming society doesn't collapse from climate change, I think a Unicron repaint is on the table.

I have zero interest in a 3p Unicron. There's a whole forum elsewhere for that audience. Just want the main event!

There’s going to be a tipping point where Hasbro steps in and goes after these unofficial third party companies for blatant IP theft. Will this be that tipping point?

You can slide under the radar with another “Looks Like Springer” but now you’re blatantly piggybacking on a really big campaign by Hasbro.

Regardless, I’m excited more people have a chance to get Unicron. It will truly be the centerpiece of a collection. Expensive? Yes. Well worth it? Most definitely.

I know this is getting way off topic, but - for the most part - I don't understand the third party market. Whenever I see a pic of a collection with third party stuff, I feel like I'm looking at someone trying to show off their comic collection that's full of fan art.

Like, fan art is great. But you don't get to point to it and say, "This is my collection of issues of Amazing Spider-Man."

That said, I do love upgrade kits and accessories. And I am guilty of paying for a third party version of things Hasbro hasn't made, yet...but I consider those place holders, keeping Hasbro's spot on the shelf warm to be replaced someday. But buying third party instead of Hasbro's? Baffling to me.

    But, hey, you do you.

This printing press offers me a cheaper alternative to actual hundred dollar bills. What's wrong with that?
