Dec 1984 my 9 year old self got the best Christmas present of my life Gen 1 Optimus prime.

Optimus Prime "No matter the cost"
Megatron "I would have waited an eternity"

My cost = 450. My time = Waited 35 years.

So too all the other Generation X kids of the late 70's and early 80's. Here's to hoping this figure makes all of hopes and dreams come true. Because I am not so sure we will still be around another 35 years from now to get a 2nd shot.

Ps. I'm the one in the batman shirt. ;)  So pay no attention to the Cabage Patch kid with the Transformer.

Hey, it’s not just Gen Xers!

I’m a millennial, born in 89, raised from the age of 4 on G1 cassette tapes, reruns, and early 90s reissues.
I got G1 Optimus for my 5th birthday, still the best ever childhood toy, and still with me for that matter:

The early 90s made in China reissue available in the original red grid-pattern box in Portugal

Sure this means I only had to wait 25 years for my dream figure, but I still count dammit :lol

Love waking up to more back-of-the-box shots. Prime laying down, Spike standing by the trailer and Roller’s open bonnet are the three new photos I spot. I wonder if it’s just mechanical detail, or if something can be stored inside Roller that way? Either way I’m loving it - wonder what other surprises we might get inside!

This one's in a car seat. That means someone physically bought it! Oooh here we go

Any Gen 1 fan is okay in my book even if he is a millennial. "oh burn" Yea so I don't see eye to eye with most of them, I blame the generation gap. That and the fact they think Bayformers is Transformers. "Not!" For that matter most millennial's I know don't even know what a VCR is, a CRT-TV, and have never even seen Gen 1 cartoon, or the 86 movie for that matter. However the post was not intended to exclude anyone per say.. Just that us old school (GenX'ers) might only get one shot at this. So I am really hoping that TAKARA got it right.

    Fine...fine you still count.

I hope that all Gen 1 Fans hopes and dreams come true. "Better?" ;)

    Much better :lol

Millennials is a weird age group of people born from 1981 to 1996. I think some people on here might be surprised to learn that they're technically millennials!

I was born in the same year and place as the Transformers cartoon. 1984, Rhode Island. I never had G1 Optimus, but had Powermaster Prime. Optimus was always my example of how a hero should be. Can't wait to see more pics!

Already posted two pages back. But heck, why not see them again!

So I don't think Prime will be packaged in robot mode upright, but probably horizontally, just based on how tall he looks compared to the rest of the packaging there. It'd be quite a surprise if he came in vehicle mode, though!

It's probably going to be like optimus prime on a tray and the trailer underneath him.
