Finally having some time to say my thoughts about the new figures:

Shockwave: Wonderful. Everything looks spot on, and I have no complaints. The purple metallic paint looks really good and the acessories are really nice. I hope they do keep the NEST guy in the regular release. Human minifigures are cooler than backdrops, and I really wish Hasbro uses it more often. Quite surprised to see him so soon, actually, and it makes my hope for a Sentinel Prime more real.

Megatron: Well, my most antecipated figure. I must say I'm a bit disappointed, but maybe it is because of the fact that we saw the MPM (the supostamente better version) first. Good metallic paint, of course, but the hands doesnt look spiky and clawish as they should. The chest, obviusly... But it doesnt annoy me too much. What really botters me is the blocky legs and the fact that, with the wings being around it, we will not be capable to give him his unfolded wings look neither recreate that scene.
The absence of the cannon and a bunch of other possible acessories also is a bit annoying. I really hope Hasbro make a Leader Class version of him, recreating his frozen form, with the correct chest, some metallic blue spots or some ice shards, an allspark and A HOLY FRENZY.
However, SS once again confirm my belief that it's headsculpts are better than the MPM's headsculpts. I almost can say that I'm buying this guy for his head.

Scavenger: I need better pictures to make a clear judgement, but he doesnt look big and bulky enough to form Devastator's torso. Headsculpt is fantastic, but I wish there was more details at his arms. They look not so bayformish, if I can say such a thing. Overall, looks good, and I'm really curious to see the legs/tread transformation.

Mixmaster: for some reason, I liked it a lot. His falled pose remembered me of the DOTM videogame boss fight, with that bit guy with wide shoulders, long arms and a heavy-but-not-bulky look comes to face you. The figure was capable to recreate these traces very well, I think. Quite anxious to buy him, but, with my research job at the university being finished and the absence of money, Megs will be the choosen.

Would you? I’ve tried putting them in there but they keep falling out immediately, like they aren’t quite big enough. I’ve been considering adding a bit of polish to them or the port to make the fit just a bit snugger and add some grip.

 

It's cool to see the roles reversed, I love these posts! I wish Optimus had said something like this in AOE to one of the Autobots in his team. It would've been great to see how he has changed and evolved.

I think it’s likely because Ironhide didn’t see much of a wide release to begin with, so with a little different paint and his dotm guns a lot of people would be getting the mold for the first time. If you managed to get your hands on him though the DNA kit is probably more than sufficient.

Damn. I wish the movies were well written enough to acknowledge that callback but I guarantee they didn’t do it on purpose. Still it’s a great find!

I think if I did though, I'd go with either purple or black/dark grey, so they could be Galvatron's pseudo-Seeker/Stinger trio

If you're referring specifically to the voyager and leader Megatron, yes they're about the same height at the head! Which is pretty cool IMO. Definitely one of the better examples of Hasbro maintaining robot mode scale within the line. I imagine the upcoming 2007 voyager will be about the same size as these two as well

If you're talking about leaders and voyagers in general, definitely not the case! Guys like Grimlock and Jetfire, and I'm guessing Scavenger, are a good bit bigger than a lot of the voyagers in the line. Blackout is about the same height or slightly taller than most voyagers at the head, but he's considerably bulkier than any of them

Tbh tho I knew even between the first movie and the rotf line the deluxes were getting smaller, but somehow even seeing tf5 / ss deluxes in stores I never realised just how small some of them have gotten, like neither of my devastator deluxes are this small so idk what's going on

 

It's not that crazy: Hasbro said that SS is about trying to get a decent robot mode scale going, so some figures at the same size classes are gonna be different actual sizes. Which is how it should be. It's also how we're FINALLY getting interesting sets like dotm Optimus, the Arcees, and guys like Blackout coming with Scorponok.

I like smaller figures so I've been happy.
