You implied I wasn’t very accepting of change. So I told you that I actually like some different iterations of Transformers. I don’t see what’s so hard to understand here.

G1's Megatron was a classic villain: he was evil for the sake of power and conquest and he wore those evil ambitions on his sleeve. He was a fun villain who was loud and energetic while still carrying an air of command.

Animated's Megatron was a very stoic, serious and aloof character who seemed to view the Decepticon cause as being a revolution. The Autobot protagonists were nuisances that he had to stoop to deal with on occasion but who he didn't consider important in the grand scheme of things.

I'd love to see an iteration of Megatron that is both energetic and aloof and, of course, competent.

He'd be serious and aloof with the Autobots because they are creatures beneath his notice - vermin that he has to exterminate for the sake of keeping his house clean. He'd be commanding with his Decepticons and exasperated by their follies. He'd be alive with Optimus Prime because he is a worthy opponent and someone whose strength and will Megatron respects even if those are the only traits he respects. He'd trash-talk Prime and be more vivid in his emotions because Prime is almost his equal, in his eyes. The closest to an equal Megatron has ever had.

I'd also prefer that he doesn't have some old history with Optimus Prime: no "We used to be friends" angle, basically. It's not that I dislike it. I could just really use a break from it, especially since there are two incarnations of Transformers that are currently using it: the Cyberverse cartoon and the IDW comics.

I would say G1 Megatron is one of the best parts of the original cartoon and is one of the most entertaining characters of the entire show.

I don’t know what you’re getting at but at this point I think you’re trolling and I genuinely just don’t care.

G1 Megatron's a damn delight. He's stupidly evil at times, but he just takes such joy in being an evil asshole that's hard not to be endeared by him. Over in the rewatch thread, I've been noting how often he gives a genuine smile whenever a plan of his goes well.

Considering the accusation he made against SPLIT_LIP in another thread, I think that's the right attitude to have.

I want a competent Megatron who's currently the dictator of Cybertron. Introduce him in the next movie just for a bit, wiping out Autobot resistance forces (Let's see the Cybertronian war from the Decepticons' POV ('It is a necessary war'.)), then asking Soundwave where Blitzwing is (Cue: Decepticon investigation to Earth. Except this time the'Cons stir up trouble on Earth, not knowing the Autobots are actually already there.).

He'll believe that he's doing the right thing, and if he benefits from it, yeah, so what? I wouldn't make him Optimus's former friend (keep it simple).

I'd have Megatron facing the Earth Autobots in the later movies, but in the meantime, he'll have his own problems on Cybertron too (Wreckers, anybody?). A potential rival might be an interesting idea, as well. (I really liked that about the old Marvel comics. And I was really disappointed at the way they wasted movie Shockwave). That would keep him busy while the main good guys face a bunch of different threats (keep it interesting) before the main showdown.

We're talking Bayformers, right? I'd like to see a competent version of Bayformers Megatron, and not the bumbling clod who's been portrayed in the movies.

Operating on the assumption the next movies build off of what we got in Bumblebee...

Let's start there. The Autobots have basically all but lost the war, reduced to a valiant but dwindling resistance force against a Decepticon controlled Cybertron.

So Megatron's already in charge. I like attempts to give more depth to him and make him more than just "the villain", but sometimes it's best to go with what works. A ruthless conqueror who will sacrifice anyone and anything for his own gain, who has the single goal of Cybertronian dominion and supremacy in the galaxy, with himself as the absolute ruler. Personality wise? Someone who has a way with words, a manipulator who used his cunning to gain power and conquer Cybertron. Who doesn't tolerate insubordination (Starscream). Who sees other worlds as little more than a source of power, to be stripped of their resources to fuel his ambitions. And how does he view the Autobots? Doesn't think highly of the faction as a whole, but views Optimus Prime as the greatest threat to his plans, hence why he sent his forces to hunt him down.

    That's how I'd do it.

Our first time seeing the new Megatron needs to be a defining moment. We saw in the bumblebee movie that Soundwave and Shockwave seem to be co-leading the assault on the launch pad, but no mention of Megatron at all. Arcee also states they’ve lost contact with the capital. I think we should get a scene where Megatron sends his troops to hunt down the remaining autobots escaping cybertron, while he alone tears through the autobot capital of Iacon. Make him horrifying, brutish, but a cunning leader. I’m tired of dumb Megatron.

Competent. That's all I want. In the Bay-verse he was okay in the initial film and then pathetic after that.

He needs to be a real match with Prime and he needs his victories on the screen to create that.

It'd also be nice if, while ruthless, he genuinely cares about those under his command and their loss really impacts him.

He doesn't even get to see most of them die. When Onslaught died in the ghost town, Nitro Zeus didn't stay to carry him. Other than that, I agree with you

This thread is about what we want Megatron to be like going forward in the Knight-verse.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

First of all, he wasn't even in the first movie
Second of all, even without the example, my point stands. How would he know Shatter, Dropkick, and "Blitzwing" are dead until they don't show up at the roll call?

I have a pretty outrageous idea, it's kind of crazy but I think it may pay off.

How about... he's actually Megatron this time.

Uhhhh, I was generalizing, homie. Don't really care about that situation specifically and I in no way even had their deaths in mind when I made that post.

I just want Megatron to give a shit when he loses a loyal soldier rather than viewing them as utterly disposable or actually putting himself at risk to protect his soldiers. That's all I meant. Last word is completely yours.

A combination between having serious brains, being brutal and scary. That's how I see Megatron when I think of Megatron..being a brute and making enemies and his own troops tremble but also being brilliant.Let the stupid decisions be on Starscream's part where they belong.
