I can't help but notice that that art they posted IS the toy. Look at the detailing on the abs and arms and everything else. And the planet mode in the background is 110% the toy. Maybe an included art print? An early look at the box art? Whomsts to say.

This has gone up 46 backers in the 2.5hrs since I posted. Bearing in mind that Asia and Aus are asleep, so no dripping in affiliate orders, and most of the U.S. is at work, that's pretty good. Now I fully expect that in just over 12hrs when I wake up, this will be firmly over 5k.

Edit: by the time I posted someone else had done, to say 4875, so make that 51...

At 4800 + I think we're still only seeing Hasbro Pulse and international affiliates. The likes of BBTS, TFsource, etc. are probably going to come in the last day or two (assuming).

I definitely don't disagree with you, but with this fandom, many still would not have been satisfied and still wanted more.

I'm going to make the prediction that the new poster by Marcelo Matere will be an exclusive art print included. This lines up with what they'd offered (free lithograph) for Cookie Monster.

um, dude - maybe stop trying to spend other peoples' money?

if you're so confident about this then go ahead and buy a whole bunch extra yourself. this Unicron is struggling to get funded at $575, and you're assuming that there will be a large market of people willing to pay even more aftermarket?

(i'm not saying that there will or won't be, just that there's no guarantee => "investing" in toys is not really the wisest way to make money. rather, you should simply buy toys if you actually want them - especially huge overpriced figures like this one!)

also: Star Wars fans =/= Transformers fan.

Oh, okay. Well, you're certainly right in your head. When they sell 8000 Omega Supreme Ark playsets, I suppose I'll look quite the fool.

Guess I should still be holding out hope on the Binaltech Magnus then, after all.

I would also like to point out that there are two different renderings of the alternate beard. The one that is photoshopped on the existing headshot, and the one that shows the two pieces sitting side-by-side.

The one on the headshot is far pointier and more angled at the bottom. The one that shows the two pieces by themselves is relatively flat at the bottom. I think it would look better in the flat version because it keeps the same facial profile. Again, just one of those things they would need to iron out in production.

Maybe he's only so expensive because Hasbro plans to send this to a factory that can actually pull it off without major widespread QC problems.

They'd never say that though. Because it would acknowledge that all of the Generations and Masterpiece stuff is already manufactured in subpar facilities.

    In recent memory:

    • Flywheels and his hips
    • Pretty much every movie Bee not clicking together just so.
    • Encore God Fire Convoy being a straight up disaster.
    • Pretty much EVERY SINGLE MASTERPIECE TOY having paint that scrapes off or some magically fragile part. $300+ a pop for a Megatron customs opened for you and probably scratched the paint doing it? How about Hot Rods magically disappearing chrome?
    • Loose joints. Loose joints everywhere.

Hasn't anyone even noticed that those equatorial strips that stretch behind the shoulders in bot mode
are SOFT PLASTIC. How are you guys gonna feel when that stuff hits its expiration date (like it always does without question) and there are $600 Unicrons everywhere with a naked mid-section in planet mode?

What are you gonna do when one of those oragami panels snaps at the joint and there's absolutely no way to find a replacement part, or even glue it without basically sticking it in one mode and keeping it that way?

What are you gonna do when you foolishly let some laymen, or even another fan, attempt to touch it and they just outright snap off a finger, or a horn? What are you gonna do when you try to change out the chin for the 5th or 6th time and the entire assembly just snaps off?

There's no way to make plastic toys with this kinda complexity without it being crazy fragile and riddled with subpar bits.

The best of the best mainline toys STILL suffer from this. So called 'Masterpieces' do too. For $20 or $30 I can tolerate those unavoidable realities.

For $575 and all this hype and waiting you're going to feel ripped off eventually.

Look me in the digital eyes and tell me Unicron's QC will reflect his price. Hasbro has a reputation to uphold....of loose fragile fiddly bits. They'll uphold it, like always.

Guess you haven't been outside lately.

Taken right outside of Hasbro Corp. this morning. Guy on the ground was backer #1, or Patient Zero as the haters call him.

Let me know when they make a Galvatron that's not horribly out of scale.
