I got around to transforming IT-02 to dino mode and back once. Aside from needing a video to figure out how to transform to dino mode and those hip tabs being really hard to connect, I didn't think there were any excessive trouble spots during the transformation. Of course, I read a decent amount of people's experiences in this thread and paid attention accordingly, so that may have something to do with the relative ease in the transformation. When transforming back to robot mode, the torso gap ended up being a little bit less than before as I tried to tidy up the parts inside as much as I could. The gap is still there, but is more acceptable to me now.

So one transformation both ways in, I think IT-02 is pretty decent for what I wanted out of it. I think I'm happy paying $82 for this flawed version of MP-41 rather than $200~$280 for the official. Even if I mentally adjust for smoother transformation, no torso gap, no blue hinges, etc on the official, I don't think I would have been that happy with it as a $200+ toy. I guess I would need some sort of connection to the character or old toy to justify that, for which I have none with Dinobot. (I've never watched any Beast Wars but bought many of the toys, though never owned Dinobot)

I guess I would recommend IT-02 if you meet ALL of the following:
-Have no connection to the Dinobot character or old BW toy.
-Not impressed by MP-41 in videos but still curious about how it works.
-Willing to take QC chance on $80+ toy.
-Willing to make some minor modifications to it for better functionality and overlook some issues such as tight joints and torso gap.

Yeah I’d say this is absolutely spot on. I watched BW, liked the character and owned the original toy and I still feel more or less exactly the same way that you do about the KO. I wouldn’t buy another out of principle as much as anything but for casual BW/Dinobot fans I’d say it’s solid.

 

That’s a good neutral overview of the figure- and I agree- although I’d say this is still a worthy substitute for the official even if you are a Dinobot fan but just can’t justify the cost of TT. I’m always going to support the officials so we can keep getting Beast Wars MPs but there are many larger characters yet to come who will definitely break the bank.

One note on your transformation though if I may be so bold-

This area is out of alignment with the rest of the collar and by fixing that you’ll also be better able to hide those jagged cut sections behind the faux Dino head.
Just un-pop the chest piece and refold it down so everything sits more neatly.

Thanks for the tip on the chest area transformation. I’ll give it a try. I kind of suspect that might be why the torso gap on mine decreased a bit on the second transformation though.

 

if IT gets sued and shut down, then we will never get our replacement parts for dinobot

So I just got this guy, What am I looking out for here? I am kinda paranoid to touch it cus it seems every day theres a new problem. Can anyone list what I generally have to do to NOT break this thing ?

You need to sand off the brown paint on the pegs.

 

i took off the paint on the tip of the sword but i think I did too much cus now it doesn't stay in place D:

i still cant get the weapons in, any help ?? sanded them a bit but no luck, hows it meant to tab in with that screw in there ??

 

I tok the paint off plus a bit of the length of the tab. I think the most important bit is right where the tab meets the handle. Any excess paint/width there will have it popping out every time.

In other news; this is the degree of battle damage I'm aiming to go for with my repaint + a few bullet scuffs like Optimus receives in Gorilla Warfare.

This is primarily intended to be a Code of Hero version but I'd forgotten just how utterly mangled Dinobot gets come the end of that ep. I could probably save myself the work of a repaint by just throwing him onto a fire for a few minutes and achieve the desired effect but I'd like something slightly less severe so he's a bit more versatile for scene recreations.
The raptor striped parts will require a complete redo because what we've got isn't particularly accurate- the arm stripes are very thin and close- but everything else should be simple enough.
Just need to check in with Show Z about the missing raptor foot piece which I still haven't got.

 

Got mine the other day, haven't had a chance to transform it yet but noticed a few issues.

1. Tail is impossible to transform. I can split them down the middle but the section where you push it out and flip it around doesn't push out enough. Not keen on forcing it.

2. The stand isn't great as it has no ratchet joint on the end. It's all friction so it slowly slides down..

3. Chest doesn't tab in well

4. The shoulders sit unevenly. Right side shoulder doesn't go down as much as the left side.

Overall, the figure is ok so far. IT megatron was great but this isn't as high quality as megatron. I haven't had anything break yet, but I'm very hesitant to transform it in case it does...

 

You can get them to sit evenly, you just have to push them down pretty hard.

 

For what its worth...

I received the Infinite Transformation today from ShowZ. I have not transformed him to Dino mode yet.

Also, I have never handled the Takara MP. I sold mine before even opening the package.

So, my quick observations...

The tail opened well enough and transformed completely into weapon mode. I had to use a good amount of pressure to get the end segments extended to flip around, but they did flip around.

I needed to use a good amount of pressure to get the weapons in his hands securely, but they did go in without modification.

The lower elbow joint is extremely tight, but I was able to force it to move by carefully applying pressure.

One ankle is a little loose left to right, but no big deal.

The paint all looks good even on the sword.

I just thought I should share because I was very worried after reading recent comments about the quality on this one. I was ready to flip this thing without even opening it. lol.

I'll try to get it transformed tonight and update.

Man, I forgot how long it takes just to prep for painting! That counts as a session in itself.
