If only they had given us more time, 5 to 6 months i know thats a long time for crowd funding but then i would of been able to jump in along with alot of other fans, because this beast isnt just its USD price to me its +90usd in postage using a system to allow me to buy it plus 15% Tax, if it wasnt for those last two i could of done it if i went with out some basics for a few weeks, but i cant do it, and thats the pain alot of us cant in this time frame

Yeah I can understand that. It was extremely short notice and coincided with a lot of new merchandise dropping as well. It was bad timing for sure. Honestly, posts like this depress me the most mainly because I like people to have the ability to have everything, and it sucks when this exclusive may become so out of reach, it'd be ridiculous to even try to afford it. The best I could offer is that the sail barge (Haslab's first project) was offered through eBay for retail price to be sold ONLY to international buyers. Chances are, that will happen again so save up if you can. I don't remember the timeline, but I believe it was a little after the Haslab backers got theirs (someone double-check me here). So somewhere around late 2020 or early to mid 2021 is my best guess. The final alternative is if you can find someone on this site to order you one and hold onto it until you save up enough. But chances are that will require a serious downpayment in both money and trust.

I think timing is the main issue for me. I *can* do it, but there is so much other product to plan for and anticipate. I want the remainder of the Siege retail offerings (including Omega) and most of the exclusives. That is a lot of product to process in a short amount of time, and adding Unicron is just overload. Not so much in whether I have the money but being asked to spend it all at once (knowing many of the exclusives may only be available for a short time) is exhausting to think about. If they had put this up like in January 2019 (or early next year in the early part of WfC2) when we don't know a whole lot about other upcoming product it would be more enticing and give me time to recover from the big $600+ commitment.

Pretty sure the online-only item costing over three times the original price for a Titan isn't going to wind up at Ollie's.

    Here is the thing.

Even if I could afford to financially back this item, it would not guarantee the results I would want for my share of this particular hobby. Mind you that it looks great. And for those doing the 1986 cast would be lucky to own it. But me? I have a variation of Asperger's that makes being a fan of anything a chore. The end result is always me being analytically burnt out if I avoid others, or me being treated poorly by those who refuse to understand me. So even if neither become issues with my current return, there is also the fact I would have to store it until I can finally move. My closet needs to be updated which means that there is zero space for it. Especially since I am also rebuilding my book, figurine, AFA G1 Transformers, and TRPG collections. As well as try to keep my larger goals alive. Which are things that dictate that I need to stop being a Luke Skywalker and put practicality before ambitious once and for all.

That, and I need to finally find out if I actually did make an appearance on this one Japanese TV show in 2017. I doubt it since a hipster crossed my path the night I was going to find out. :confused2

Changed my vote to reflect that I finally signed up today. I wish that I could afford two but I’ll make do with one somehow. ;)

My final answer is no. I’m closing on a new house in November and have been debating in my mind for weeks but just can’t take the plunge. If it were after that then definitely yes.

This thing simply was not given enough time and not having a payment plan option sucks.

All support for people who like this and back it, but I just don't see it. Is it cool? Sure, but it's like... $50 or maybe $75 cool. $575? eeeeee.... ooookkk....

I think that if it's within 500 backers by the deadline it'll get done. Hasbro will jump in at the last minute with ghost backers to have it done and making those exclusives to be sold at the TT store or at Cons. 1000 might be a stretch but i can also see it happening. If it's around 2000 i can see Hasbro Execs calling in favors lol. "Get Wahlberg, Bay, Knight, on the phone!! even that crazy AF Labeouf!!" But seriously, it would have been genius marketing to have included some of the cast from the movies (even if the toy is totally unrelated to their movies) to be in on this.

I can relate to your frustration over this. On one side it is a really cool item and would look great displayed in the corner of your collection's room. But on the other side, you are expected to be a fiscally responsible adult that is getting a home. Which is one of those things that has me angry over an allowed scenario I had to deal with in 2012. One that put my planned income towards getting a starter place be sacrificed towards actually having a hobby. And now that I feel semi-comfortable being back in this one, I have to spend 2020 keeping it at a bare minimum while I recover those funds, and them some. And hopefully once I can do that vintage Takara pieces will not cost as much as a used car.

Rant aside, I do hope you get him. Or find a suitable substitute. And that he will look great in whichever room you are allowed to display your collection in. :thumb

I don't get this whole "we need 8000 backers in less than two months or else we're going to trash this project that we have obviously already spent a dump truck full of money developing" thing.

I understand the need to crowdfund a project like Unicron, what everyone didn''t agree on was the timeframe given to back the project. I think Hasbro didn't really think it through on that. They probably thought that rushing it in time for a con like SDCC where there would be tons of eyes on it that it would garner interest. But I didn't really see a spike after SDCC

The price is actually not bad considering the cost of statues which is even more by far. I was actually expecting a higher price. I will try to po 5-10 pieces to help push it forward. The retailers will make this happen in the last min just like the barge.

2 weeks ago I was sure I was backing on Aug. 31st. After a couple videos of the transformation. I've grown to really dislike the panel-forming aspect. I hate backpacks and he has a huge one.
I also really dislike the panel kibble on the legs. It's a shame cause planet mode looks great, and the bot mode minus the panels looks really good.

Transformation engineering has come sooooo far, that I'm wondering if another solution beside forming a shell around Unicron's botmode is possible.

Was gonna charge this bad boy, and I may still, but the past week my interest has wavered.

I want to but the shipping is going to kill me!

If you want to get rid of panels then he will be just the original lardy tummy 1986 proto never released figure.

Shipping should be included in the price. Unless you don't live in the USA.

How would you hide the panels otherwise? Seems like you'd have to add a lot more folds and make his entire body, arms and legs hollow so the planet shell would fit inside.
