So, you're saying that a 'conservative' estimate is that the sites like BBTS and TF Source and such EQUAL the total worldwide affiliate numbers, including the entirety of TT Mall and Hasbro Asia.

You're also saying that an additional 2,000 people are likely to pledge, when that number is 2/3 of the people that have pledged in the past month and a half.

I am blinded by your optimism.

You are forgetting about the massive number of orders that will be coming from Asia. I suspect the retailers who are offering people more time to scratch up the cash (at a hefty "penalty" of a $100+ markup) will contribute another 1000 or more backers. This is a done deal. Unicron is funded already.

    Whoever wants to.

You do realize this is a forum of adults who collect toys? I would say a good number of people here have the means to do so.

Then why not count it towards the 3k? If Asian customers and retailers are backing the product, why isn’t it accounted for?

I was hoping that was just down to general Hasbro photographer incompetence, it's very rare they get a cool pose in a promo photo, but I really hope this isn't the reason,

There is no reason for them to add those numbers until the end. It is much like companies that report their earnings at the end of a quarter. They don't provide running totals. They simply report the final numbers when the quarter has ended.

If they were to move forward with less than 8k in orders, it really destroys the whole crowdfunding hype and process. Im not worried in the slightest, this is getting made and nothing is detering me from thinking so.

Yeah, this is the wild card here. BBTS and TFSource are doing pre-orders and who knows how many else. We don’t know if those numbers are part of the total we are seeing.

I don’t follow a lot of kickstarters, but it seems the model is an uptick at the end. If the numbers from other sources aren’t in yet, it may make it.

If those numbers are already in, then it’s a lot less likely it finishes at the goal.

Either way, we don’t know for sure. That uncertainty is certainly making it hard to predict how Unicron ends.

Now Cookie Monster? He’s done. Just shy of 600 with three hours to go. No way that makes.

If orders are indeed being held back until the end, it’s a stupid move on Hasbro’s part, and shows again how inept they are at running an exciting crowdfunding campaign. The closer the backer number is to the goal, the more excited people become, and some folks will get swept up in that and find a way to contribute. As it stands now the numbers are demoralizing.

$575 X 1000 = $575,000. You believe that tiny little e-tailers are willing or able to pay that up front in order to make a profit a couple of years from now. And that's not even including shipping and other risks, like returns or defects.

Realistically, those sites are probably able to take a very small number of pre-orders each. Maybe $5000-$10,000 worth. Any more than that would be jeopardizing their business. The reason they haven't reached their cap on pre-orders is because few have actually placed pre-orders thus far. Or they are incompetent and don't realize they need to cap them and will wind up cancelling excess orders.

1000 orders... try less than 100.
