I have a small collection of die cast movie / tv vehicles, and have eyed the 1/18 Ecto 1. The Ecto 1A is just too damned expensive.

However... what would the possibility of a re-release be with this new Ghostbusters coming?
Can we hope for a new Ecto to boot?

I’d say the chances of more Ecto1 toys to come in various forms is highly likely.

Now, I have the model kits... that I have yet to assemble... but another shot at those 1/18’s would be nice.

Does anybody know of any small figures of the original cast in a scale that might fit in with the new voyager Ectotron?

EDIT: probably a little over an inch, I’d say.

I saw something on the mega forums that Mega Construx has the Ghostbusters license, so maybe they have some minifigs coming.

Here’s hoping they show something at SDCC. I’d be all over some Mega Construx Ghostbusters figures.

So I heard Hasbro is reacquiring the license and they're planning Kenner style toys already, but I've no idea what that might imply at this point.

I am wondering if I should pick up the Playmobil toys anyway or wait.

as long as they actually get some Ghosts into the line beyond Slimer and Stay Puft I'm down!

pack every human with a ghost like the original toys - that was perfect

As long as the Ghostbusters construction toy license is non-exclusive.

If you're referring to Lego, I think that deal is done.

In regard to Hasbro, can't imagine them doing much with it unless they're just trying to screw over Mattel. Which they might.

But hopefully that's not the case, with Ectotron and MP10G, Mega sized and articulated Ghostbuster figures would be welcomed.

But how can the Mattel-owned Mega Construx share with their parent company’s rival Hasbro?

I'd guess fancy wording through legal contracts.

Same reason Mattel can release all kinds of Star Wars and Marvel licensed cars in their Hot Wheels lines.

Yeah, different type of toys fall under different categories... it's why you ONLY see bobble head version POP figures for specific brands due to bobble heads falling under "novelties" and not "collectibles". Its also how Mattel and Diamond Select were putting out figures at the same time: Mattel with 6 inch and 12 inch figures and Diamond Select with their odd scaled figures. Same category, but the different scaling allows for wiggle room.

The LEGO deal is officially done with as the classic Ecto-1 was part of the Lego Idea line, but sold so damn well they came put with the fire house and the 2016 Ecto-1 set.

Now, if you're looking for affordable, but solid looking stuff to put of a shelf? The playmobile firehouse and Ecto-1 and 1A are INCREDIBLE. I say this as a grown ass, 38 year old adult with no kids. I've been collecting Ghostbusters stuff since it was new on the shelf and these? I would have literally murdered to have toys this awesome.

Black Series 6" Ghostbusters figures is my hope here. A theoretical matching 1/12 scale Ecto-1 would be absolutely ginormous and expensive but maybe HasLab could make it happen though.

A 3.75" line of figures with Ecto-1 would be more manageable so long as they have G.I. Joe levels of articulation and accessories. That would be cool too.

Just got the playmobile ecto-1a to go with the ecto-1. Painted some silver on the ecto-1 and plan to do the same with the 1a where it needs it. Really impressed with the ecto-1a the details on body of the car are all painted on, no stickers at all except for the license plates and a few roof rack details. The lightbars on the front and back have the correct multicolored lights as they were slightly different on the front and rear light bar, the front lightbar on the bottom had no blue lights while the upper rear light bar did. The only weak spot on ecto-1a to me is the lightbar above the front multi colored lightbar. has no lights itself but is encased in a clear piece of plastic to try and catch the light from the lower set when on. I'm thinking of replacing it with a strobe lightbar from a old 1/18 scale police car to give it a better look since either way it wouldn't light up but I'm not really in any hurry to do it. Both cars also have very large out of scale spotlights but leaving them off filling in the hole and painting it white to match the car and they look great.
