DOTM was not a good line, I agree. Of the movie figures I've sold, almost all of them are from DOTM. It really marked a transition period where Hasbro was trying to balance price and earnings I think, that and I believe the old design team was being phased out. Thankfully they've hit a tremendous stride with Studio Series and we're getting a lot DOTM characters in great toy form.

 

Though I'm still getting it, unless its just mistransformed in the stock photo I'm not a big fan on SS Shockwave with how it looks like in vehicle mode his chest and face is just like staring at the ground. With the DOTM Voyager figure I liked how in vehicle mode there was like a "helmet" piece for lack of a better term that covered it in a way. With the in hand picture its not very clear to see if thats how the transformation is in vehicle mode.

 

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I am a Hasbro shill. Every SS reveal this month has been a slam fucking dunk

Shockwave: Bot mode is not just a step above the original voyager, he's the whole staircase. Wheelie and Brains minifigs? Now they're just spoiling me. Can't wait to display him with the rest of the Decepticon high command on my shelf.

Scavenger: Absolute monster. It's what he deserves.

Mixmaster: Not as good as the original's bot mode, but the original didn't have to juggle 3 real modes. I want to see more.

Motherfuckin WHEELIE AND BRAINS! MIXMASTER AND SCAVENGER ARE SO PRETTY! A TF1 MEGS WITH AN ROTF LOOKIN CHEST! SHOCKWAVE! LENNOX! SS is getting me so bad and I hate it.

 

Preordered the Voyagers and Scavenger. Not quite sold on Shockwave yet.

 

I think he’s worth it. The renders really don’t seem to do him justice. The one displayed had a cool dry brush effect similar to Grimlock as opposed to the bright purple in the official images.

 

My mind is made up. SS Shockwave is a HUGE improvement over the old voyager!

 

Is anyone talking about why we don't yet have a Studio Series Jolt? I mean, come on guys. It's Jolt. We need Jolt. Give us Jolt. Jolt.

 

There's still plenty of characters that need SS love. The title character from that movie hasn't been done yet.

After letting it in from today i have a more solidify opinion on these guys
Megatron - Definitely the weakest of these reveals. His robot mode is ok, but i feel is severely generic and uninteresting. Granted his first design is like that to begin with but the MPM proves that it can be done well. Saving grace is definitely the jet mode and (if they keep it) the paint scheme.
Shockwave - My god. He's the opposite of Megatron. His vehicle mode doesn't look too bad but not perfect, obviously due to not having one in the movie or in concept. But his robot is a beast. The detail, the size, THE PAINT! His bot mode is perfect. Brains and Wheelie are an interesting addition but honestly i couldn't care less about them. And the parachute guy is just completely unnecessary.
Scavenger - Such a massive improvement over the original. His in the proper size class, he has much better articulation, he can stand up on his own due to some clever transformation with his treads. He's going to somehow combine with his teammates. He's just fantastic. His vehicle mode is good as well, but i find i bit off, mainly the cab is further back than usually, and the treads are a bit too short. Overall i love him.
Mixmaster - Another well done figure as well. His vehicle is perfect, nothing more to say about it. His robot mode is well done as well, with his lanky proportions and mixer shields. Bit of a backpack but not too distraction. Still not sure how he turns into Devastator's head though. Only major gripe is the paint on his head, it really should of been silver or gray to make it stand out more.

I'm really excite for this wave. With todays reveals and the deluxes from a few weeks ago, this might be the strongest wave in SS yet. I think i might have to get another bookshelf. May god have mercy on our wallets.

Yep. I ordered from BBTS. But I just placed an order at ages three and up too. Which ever comes first, I will cancel one voyager order from the other. But I may still keep the order for the leader classes.
