This is happening a lot for me now with the Siege sets coming out. I want all the Battle Masters, but don't need the figures some are being packaged with. Also really want the Kremzeek included with the Refraktor set I don't care about. Bought CW Computron mainly because I had to have Scrounge.

What sets/figures have you bought or wanted to buy for just one figure or accessory?

 

I wish one of the Siege Spy Patrol sets came as Lazerbeak and Ratbat so I would only have to buy one set.

Since the other 2 Siege Cassetticon's (Frenzy and Ravage) both look like complete crap!

 

I’ve wanted an MP Ratbat for years, but I can’t justify buying the entire MP Soundblaster just for it.

 

Either I buy the set and sell/giveaway the parts I don’t want or I skip it.
I wanted TR Nautica but nothing else from her box set so I sold off the rest of it piece by piece. Same with Ginrai and Metalhawk from the other TR boxset.

 

For me just buying the KO was worth it. I'm not going to sell it and now my MP Soundwave's tape collection has a perfectly convincing Ratbat.

 

I picked up the Destron 22 decoy collection just for Laserwave (Shockwave)

 

That's why I go to what the forum calls "ebay scalpers".

I've been able to find most of what I've been looking for without having to pay for the whole set (while I admit for a more expensive price than a real stand alone figure) on ebay

Examples of what I've been able to get without the whole set :

- Mega Empress from the Megatronia set
- Dolrailer from UW Baldigus set
- Strafe & Nosecone from Computron set
- Metalhawk & Pounce from Siege on cybertron set
- Small optimus from TFFC pretender set (really didn't care the big unarticulated monkey which was not even a real shell)
- LG Ex Cab and Minerva titan masters. (already had Ginrai and god bomber from the standalone releases)
- PM Onyx Prime from Predaking set
- PM Megatronus from BlastOff pack
- Ultra Magnus from the old classics 2pack with skywarp.

and probably some other that I forgot. (I admit there's a gap in my memories between prime wars and classics  )

My current only failure is getting Mega & Giga from LG Overlord. No offers at all.

 

When I was hardcore collecting Mini-Cons I bought many a toy just to get the Mini-Con and then sold off the larger bot.

 

Long Haul.

I have no desire for the rest of the Constructicons.

I wanted the Combiner Wars Long Haul because he's a lovable chunk.

Thanks to eBay, I got him solo. And the UW version. And the SDCC version as well.

Then, the downsized KO happened. I wanted the Long Haul. Contacted Sirtoys, and a few weeks later, my deluxe-sized Long Haul arrived.

 

I bought the TR boxes for the clones, Nautica, Metalhawk, and the Ginrai.

I wanted to buy the Hasbro computron for Scrounge, but I could never justify it to myself.

 

I just want that IDW Impactor. I don't really need the powerdasher, and I could care less about the Mirage.

 

Mega Empress,I had bought whole Megatronia boxset just for her and I don't absolutely regret,she's one of my favorite bots on my little collection.

 

I wanted the Botcon 2007 set for the Dreadwind retool of Classics Jetfire. After 12 years, I finally got Dreadwind on his own for a reasonable price.

I really want the Takara versions of CW Strafe and Nosecone.

I also want the Titans Return box sets minus G2 Prime, Ginrai and Tidal Wave.

Siege Skywarp and Red Wing without the Mini-cons.

There are ko's of MP Ratbat that are very reasonably priced on EBay. I bought one and plan on getting Laserbeak next.

 

I narrowly avoided this with LG-63 Megatron since I only wanted the Noble/Savage accessory and not the actual Megatron figure. Was fortunate enough to get a loose one eventually without buying the whole set.

 

Redwing doesn’t have any minicons. Also, looks of people are looking for them so you could sell them on their own.

 

I bought the Titans Return Siege on Cybertron set for Metalhawk and Ginrai/Magnus Prime and the one Decepticon clone and the Velocitron set for Quickchange and the Autobot clone.

 

I want the top parts for Viewfinder from the box set to put on a retail Reflector. I don't think I want to spend that much for two parts.

 

Unfortunately in my case, as a Starscream collector, there are more and more figures being released of which I really just want the accessories. And I am not talking about a 20-30ish USD figure, but a 300-700 USD figure (i.e., I cannot justify paying the whole thing just for the accessories   )

In those cases I can only hope to find a kind spark willing to sell the accessories, or sell the entire thing with a discount... 

 

The only reason I even bought the Siege Battlemasters is the blast effect parts. The blast effect parts is a good idea, and they're probably the best part about those figures. Aside from that, they're nothing special as standalone toys.
